This new auto banning for teamkilling that everyone is posting about is the WORST thing that could be out right now and the mods are saying its justified even if the person could literally not avoid it. I’ve seen many posts both here and on reddit from people getting hit with these auto bans, for example there was a post on reddit by “u/WassupMan27” where he showed a clip of what lead to him getting hit with an auto ban, and the clip is of him firing at an ENEMY aircraft with an M247 using the radar lead indicator and continuing to fire at heading 120 not straying more than 5 degrees in heading, and a friendly plane flies right in front of them while they are scoped in and the friendly plane gets killed and u/WassupMan27 could in no way shape or form react to be able to NOT hit that friendly, this is clearly the friendly plane’s fault for flying low in front of a friendly SPAA who is CLEARLY firing at an enemy plane, and yet this person got the ban/suspension. And you CANNOT tell me that this is a justified ban/suspension. And u/WassupMan27 is not the only case like this that is suddenly getting the timed bans, reddit and this forum is FILLED with posts. Not only is this just plain dumb, its also EXTREMELY easy for people to abuse, if people are getting auto banned for accidently hitting a teammate if they fly in front of them, what’s to stop a griefer from intentionally getting in front of you when you are focused on an enemy, just to get you banned, Id argue that’s way more of a hinderance and harassment than just shooting someone down and them losing SL.
Instead of this autobanning system, my suggestion is to have a system automatically send in a report for teamkills 2+ by a player in one match and from there let the moderation team decide if someone was actually griefing other players, or if its a situation where someone dropped a BIG bomb on like 6 enemy tanks, but 3 friendlies happened to be near it. I believe that if someone actually has griefed another and only killed one, the actual player made report in game should be sufficient. And as extra reason to discourage players from teamkilling intentionally, the SL for repair costs that is given to a player who got killed by a teammate, have that exact amount of SL subtracted from the person who killed them so that they lose the SL given to the dead player.
And now onto the topic GMs are trying to push, that all these bans are manually reviewed, now I’m not saying that none are manually reviewed and i don’t doubt the moderation team is working hard, but you cannot tell me with a straight face that they manually reviewed and issued the bans for all 23,872 people who tk’d, since October 22nd. the official punishments put out since October 22nd is 25,013 bans; 23,872 people of those were banned for “namely teamkilling”, and 1,190 were banned due to exploiting game flaws and manipulating game mechanics. Now Im not here to argue the 1,190 people banned, with how well easy anti cheat works and how obvious game exploits can be its likely that those people deserved the bans they got. now of those 25,285 people 2,728 people were given bans of a week or longer, I would venture to guess the 1,190 exploiters are certainly included in there, lets assume for a moment that the 1,190 exploiters are all included in there, that would mean that at minimum there were 1,538 players with a week or more ban that had team killed. Something being pointed out by the GMs is players who repeatedly teamkill, and with what does get manually reviewed, i dont doubt those repeat offenders could be included in the 1,538(~+) players with week or longer bans and I would feel that to be justified punishment. But on the other hand we have the 22,557 who were given bans of less than a week, now its not out of the question to assume based on the math that close to all if not all were from team kills. As hard as the moderation team may be working, I have major doubts they properly manually reviewed and issued the short term bans to ALL 22,557 people who team killed in the last 23 days, hence there has to have been an auto moderation thing that detected the teamkill and dished out the ban regardless of actual reason for the team kill. Now, I guarantee you will find MANY others who share the same sentiments with me in that adding this auto banning feature is a good way to anger a community and lose players. I have given an alternate suggestion to the current in place system and would even be willing to help however could be needed so as to emphasize that I am not just spouting empty words. I would also like to put this out there for the people reading this post who may have the question in mind, that no I have not had my account banned but am speaking out on behalf of the many many players who were wrongly banned and told by the moderator to and I quote: “Please wait out the ban. Support & Forums cannot help you. They are justified.” -katyushá. This is an obviously copy pasted reply to everyone who complains here in the forum about getting the bans, and the fact that it is copy pasted is not surprising obviously due to how many people they may read through and reply to, but the “They are justified” blanket statement I believe to be an inappropriate thing to say due to 22,557 likely being hit with the auto moderation ban. Now Im not gonna claim I have 100% factual of everything, but I have tried my best to pull accurate information, and none of this is meant to be “throwing shade” at the Mods, GMs, Game Moderators or anyone else, this is simply me putting out my thoughts and thought process on this. Im going to throw this on the end of this post here because I think its an important suggestion I was told about by another player: the player had pointed out how ground RB used to allow teamkilling and it was removed due to how many players were teamkilling each other and now the ability to damage allies is only in sim battles for ground. Now applying that to the current state of air RB which is undoubtedly where a large amount of the bans stem from, if the auto ban/moderation is taking down 22,557 people in 23 days then maybe this isn’t a problem that can be solved by throwing a ban at a player for even an accidental team kill, but that maybe shooting down team mates needs to be removed from Air RB all together and only be a possibility in Air Sim battles like how it is for ground battles, obviously that wont stop people from potentially bodyslamming a friendly plane but I believe this could majorly reduce the numbers of team kills if this was implemented. I honestly think this suggestion about removing teamkilling from Air RB is a much more ideal suggestion than what I mentioned earlier, but I don’t think what I mentioned earlier is a bad suggestion and Ill keep it there so as to keep my train of thought laid down here.
