The failure of 9.7 and below helicopters

Have you tried locking something in front aspect from 3km+ ?

Ka50s so far.

Either way I start to suspect that @Дана_горячая is right because it seems that only certain helis got increased heat signature. Spawned littlebird and enemy ozelot couldnt do anything from 4km until I turned away to show rear aspect.

So yes, its not stinger buff, its just some helis with immense heat signature like ka50. I was incorrect. Tho I still find it kind of weird that some ancient ah helis are less vulnerable to manpads than relatively modern helis which even have things to reduce heat signature and other protection stuff.

I’ve played most of the core starter Helis (Alloutte, AH-1G, UH-1, Mi-4, H-34).

In my list (of ones I have played, I have all but the Chinese and British ones bought), in order, these are the best to worst starter helis.

  1. Mi-4AV
  2. Alloutte
  3. AH-1G
  4. UH-1B
  5. H-34
  6. AB-205

The Mi-4AV is slow but it has great range and missile to make up for it. The 35mm Oerlikon SPAAG can’t reach 4km out and struggle against the missiles you have- when the missiles hit they hit hard. It isn’t great defensively but it also doesn’t usually need to go defensive, which helps.
The Alloutte has decent armament and is small and maneuverable, but lacks the range of the Mi-4AV and if it gets hit even once its done for.
The AH-1G is fun. Not necessarily that good but it is fun. I played it mainly before the updated modules, but before the updated modules it could very certainly be a menacing heli thanks to its maneuverability, speed, and armament. The 40mm grenade launchers were mean, the 20mm is fun, and the rockets are strong. The biggest downside is no missiles.
The UH-1s have decent everything but good nothing. For Japan, it gets no missiles which is rough. BUT, it is still a decent heli rusher and its lower BR can often times help it get through and not have to deal with autocannons or things like that.
The H-34 is pretty sucky; the sluggishness of the Mi-4 but worse and without the range on its missiles. The good side is it gets missiles.
Finally, the AB-205. It has great, and I mean great, speed. That is it. 14 FFARs. 2x 7.62 miniguns that aren’t even that good. It is a miserable heli to try and get kills with. It is possible; but it certainly is a struggle for people to use, even after understanding how to use and fire and aim rockets.

Its just 500m difference, 3.5km is more than enough with such agility and size. Deserves first place.
Also its not ugly so plus style points.

3.5km in theory. 3 in practice. Anything past 3km and you aren’t garaunteed to reach- whereas the Malyutkas on the Mi-4 or whatever they are have 4km regardless of manueverability and circumstances.

Even disregarding this, however, the Mi-4AV has generally better armament while also being a bit more tanky- the Mi-4 can get shot and land, whereas the Alloutte is all components so if you hit it once its DONE for.

That all said, I am merely going off of my experience. Not off of pure stats. So what I say may not be applicable to or agreed on by everyone.

Oh yeah, I doubt they changed anything in regards to how easily you can lock helicopters.
Ka-50 was always one of the easiest ones to lock but the problematic ones are mostly those found at 10.0 and below.

To me its still not worth losing all agility for bit better armament. Relying on heli tankyness isnt great idea. In most cases 1 or 2 hits can end heli real quick. Fire, pilot or just “avionics damaged”. It wouldnt help you much vs planes. While alouette can dodge those and even strike back, mi4av can only play as practice target due its horrid agility. Also it takes longer to return to airfield and get to firing position. Alouette will send its missiles and rtb faster.

Probably because gaijin’s heat signiture system is very basic and is just based on the thrust of the engine. The earlier helis have wealer engines so they have a very low signiture.

The more modern ones most likely have sone sort of multiplier to help lower it but it is only by a non-significant amount.

A new heli mode with AI infantry should be considered, helos should begin supporting infantry as that would make both soviet and western guns useful, to later use mostly missiles as technology progresses on BRs.

The current setup is simply bad.

Hell nah. Stingers are long overdue for a raise.

Yes, helirush mbts, spaa and autocannons vehicles

Too bad, there is no infantry ingame yet.

So you’re basically telling me this specific heli made for helirush is… useless.

So helirush is useless, got it

Test drive heli has the exhaust in the back, it’s way hotter there.
Also note that modifications exist to shield the exhaust, gives less lock range.
You also have IRCM/DIRCM/LDIRCM, which actually increase lock range

It is, you’re basically running into a wall of spikes.
Why would you ever expect helirushing to work.

No helicopter is built to fly into 16 enemy vehicles ready to shoot them down the moment they’re exposed.
This is common sense

300 meaning low

Lied straight to the stats lmao

Daily inspection?

Call it 85% doesn’t spawn if you hate me

That’s why I said Lead of Lead.

If indicator moves, you move ahead of indicator, and shoot around it.

Every round you shoot is a dice toss, and would turn out to be effective by stats or by… playing the plane side and see if you dare to slow your energy bleed?

Or get close to attack lol. Staying far away simply gives the time for the spaa side to W away. The bomb needs time to dive in xD

I don’t see people constantly spam Attention to the designated grid square and react that much, yet they should pay attention. No one’s gonna pop smoke when team clicks the map, same thing here.

It needs to be accurate enough

Nerfing radius and drive better can solve… I won’t say percentage this time. Almost never die to bombs at those BR lmao.

Every shot is a toss.

Pick any random shot/ shell/ projectile and say this again. Yeah why not.

Back to lead indication, traverse, ccip, and tosses statement. Nothing new needed

And still, gonna do this everytime

For me I get incredible results with the 8.7 - 9.7 helicopters.

Such as the Tzefa, Lahatut, with TOWs or even better, the chinese gazelle with those fantastic 4km range ATGMs. all that against cannon spaa and manpads, that if you play from far you can easily fool them (tzefa the dircm and flares do really work well against thins as iglas).

I would say this br bracket its the best one to play helicopters. At least better than an AH-64 vs saclos spaa/spikes.

Note: 10.3 helis like kiowa or ah6 are also great, hellfires against rolands, pretty good.

Sorry bro, I play for the lore and to have fun. Not to hover behind a big rock 16km away with IR vision every match like a sweat.

Helirush should be a doable thing. It is not.

like why would you ever choose the hind

4km range ATGMs and RWR aren’t bad for 8.7 so at least the 24D has that going for it
