The end is very close

i know what you mean.

Im sick of fighting in small urban maps with tanks that can shoot 3 times the lenght of the whole map.

In real life tanks hates city fighting and will avoid it at all cost.

It feels like this game is slowly turning into a close combat shooter, where quite a lot of the more special tanks got no or limited place.

The End of War Thunder?

No, I don’t believe that, and I’ll tell you why this is far from happening in detail below.

1st Point – Incentives for Grinding

To keep players dedicating their free time to War Thunder, the game has a “reward system” for grinding a nation. This allows players to start another nation with EXP “bonuses” for five battles, provided they are in the same mode where progress was made. This system is made even easier with a premium account, premium vehicles, and boosters.

2nd Point – Constant Updates

War Thunder receives four or five major updates per year, introducing AMAZING new vehicles that motivate players to grind for them. These updates also bring the sale of new premium packs or the return of older ones, which make grinding more accessible. For example, the T-72AV TURMS and SU-25K premium packs allow players to research the entire Russian ground and air tech trees efficiently.

3rd Point – New Technological Systems

The game continues to introduce new technological systems, such as advanced radars and 50G-capable missiles. Additionally, certain in-game mechanics have been simplified—like pre-configured keybinds that reduce the learning curve for executing real-life jet maneuvers.

4th Point – Future Vehicle Releases

Many highly anticipated vehicles have yet to be introduced, including the Yamato battleship, F-15EX, F-22, F-35, Su-57, Bismarck, and several other naval, aerial, and ground vehicles. Until these vehicles are added, players will remain engaged. War Thunder’s damage model, control mechanics, and battlefield strategy elements will continue to be superior to other games of this genre for a long time.

Final Thoughts – The Hate vs. Improvement Debate

I will continue to criticize War Thunder where necessary, but I will never follow the wave of players who “wish” for the game to end. There’s a major difference between hating the game but wanting it to improve and hating the game and wanting it to shut down especially when War Thunder remains the best game in its category.

We also have events and other activities to keep players engaged. So, my friend, the phrase “THE END OF WAR THUNDER IS NEAR” is simply not true. Right now, most of us are waiting for a specific game release this year, and some players are just saving money to afford what’s needed to play it. The recent drop in War Thunder’s player base is simply the effect of a well-established gaming franchise drawing attention away from other titles.

Just a few points, my English is not perfect enough for more expressive communication. So yes, I do use ChatGPT for translations into English. If you don’t like it, I’m sorry, but I have no intention of avoiding the tool for communications where I wouldn’t be able to express myself well with my basic knowledge of English.

No, I don’t have a problem with Chat GPT at all, and I wasn’t having a go at you.

I was just pointing it out.

I think you have a read / understand problem.

I understand your point of view…

The problem is my background on online gaming, specially on war themed games.

Regarding AB, I started with Microsoft CFS 1 2 3 … After that, Warbirds (probably the most exciting air battles game I ever played), IL2 with all edition, Lock-On… Even a little of DCS (too hardcore and more modern combate oriented)…

I think WT RAB could be fun (not a sim and not realistic) if no tags… For me it makes no sense you spot and know what enemy aircraft is from 1000km away. The prey is the fun part of the game…

New players tend to say that high BR are great… My opinion (not only on WT but in any game), you need less skill to use a missile lock, or use a laser range finder, to get a kill. You can give a new player a modern tank and he will hit a moving enemy tank at 2km, but he will miss all shots with a Nashorn at 500m…

Regarding new goals… Why? Why should I need to spade vehicles that I don’t like or use? Why should I care about skins?

Now… you #3… That you are 100% correct!!! I’m now spending more time on Hell At Loose, but even after 2 or 3 hours on it, I will go for 2 or 3 games on WT… it’s like a drug! =)

Take a temporary break, maybe only one month. I do that whenever I get burnt out.

Its really because war thunder only have little game modes. Arcade, Realistic, and Sim are basically the game just with varying difficulties. Assault Ground and Air are too repetitive, and single player missions dont give out much and gaijin probably left it as is since the last 10 years.

I bet Gaijin have the resources to improve the game and quality of life but they rather add new top tier vehicles, many of which are premiums, again, and again, and again. I really wish the game doesnt become another WoT situation.

Honestly, 2010s SPGs and 1980s LTS on otherwise mostly 1940s marches have been some of the worst additions in War Thunder’s history.

Why on Earth are PzH 2000s riding into battle alongside Tiger IIs?

unfortunately it is only a small % of the playerbase like us that still respect plausible immersion.

2010s SPGs? If you mean howitzers those are 1930s technology with exceptions for the one using thermals, and the ones using laser range finders… which are not facing early WW2 vehicles, and can’t even take out Tiger 2s in equal conditions.

I love the immersion of War Thunder, it puts me in the perspective of war games.

Saying that PzH is 1930s technology is like saying that Leopard 2A7V id xD

Just because it has the same basic structure (tracks, turret, gun…) it doesn’t mean its even in the same universe…

I used to- now M26s and Tiger IIs from the mid 1940s ride into battle alongside 2010s PzH 2000s, MILAN ATGM carriers from the 1980s, and other such aberrations,

I’m not advocating for a full historical MM, that would be disastrous… I understand that vehicles may need to face vehicles 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 years newer/older for balance reasons… but 30-70 year differences is just way too much, completely out of place.

Indeed, plausible immersion is the keyword.

I’m not asking for historical MM; it’s fine for me for ASU-57, for example, to face older vehicles; because the vehicle itself doesn’t look or feel out of place at all. However, seeing a futuristic sci-fi present day system riding into battle along with mid-WW2 tanks just feels… wrong, to me, at least.

The howitzer standard used today was invented in the late 1930s.
The HE rounds existed since the 1930s just with minor changes.
That’s the context of tank v tank in direct line of sight.

The only thing that didn’t exist was laser range finders and thermals.

list of nice places to visit after you are done with WT (if you live in USA)

Until they are logged! #47 ordered to start logging in large amounts specifically on national parks.

hopefully the good ones will be spared. this is quite unfortunate news though, as someone who occasionally goes outside

And this is why I’m glad I’m so close to being done with the tech trees. I’m so close to being free.
