The end is very close

Almost 2k days playing WT… but every day I feel the end of WT for me is close… Very close…

Is it just me, or is this game losing that tactic sexiness? The best-in-class charisma? The ability to keep us hooked?

Every update I find a map, “upgraded” to a maze of rocks or blocks forcing all players to do exactly the same… CQB… Every ambush place has now a rock there… every old snipe spot is now on the top of a clip, and every map is now flat? That every game is a carbon copy of the previous one you played on that map? That every event lack creativity?

Don’t get me wrong… WT still’s an amazing game, and im pretty sure it will be around for many years to come but in my opinion, it just lost that profitable (for gaijin) vs free (or not) but enjoyable (for the players) game balance…

This post isn’t about bias… premiuns… CAS… console players/game aids… cheaters… etc…
This post is about spending 2 or 3 hours playing and stop wanting more…
Now it’s more 2 or 3 games and it’s enough…

Maybe in the future, the good old WT will return! I really hope so…

Have fun mates!!

The reason I play War Thunder is the vehicles, nothing more.
Game modes are a tool to use the vehicles, but the vehicles are the reason I play.

What could go really well for Gaijin gamemode/mapwise would be to first extend the size of the base map and then make a map that caters to multiple playstyles, dense urban areas for those who love CQC, and then large fields for those who prefer sniping, and maybe with vehicle tunnels (similar to Southeaster City in ARB) for those who want to flank. It would benefit from an increased team size and having a destructible environment (not as much caused by ground vehicles but like for example the ability to destroy a skyscraper and have it actually do damage to nearby vehicles during the collapse). However, this is not a very smooth idea, as where the game really lacks currently is in gamemodes. We’ve got: Control, TDM, and that’s it. The game would benefit from more dynamic gamemodes, though I can’t think of any

I feel this, I’m only on what, my 7th year playing War Thunder now? Nonetheless I feel completely burnt out of this game, I love it, it’s my passion, but I just can’t play for more than a few games at a time on my own. I rarely even open it unless I’m playing with friends. I don’t know when I started feeling this way, probably the winter event of 2022/2023, getting that Tornado was hell on earth for me, and I never felt the same.

That’s the price of having a special needs son, and the need of spending the last 10 years awake all night to nurse him…

Next time try not to be such a smart ass if you don’t know the all picture kid.

Same feeling here …

That’s the problem. The game now focuses solely on vehicles. When we played WWII, there was almost always a semi-historical MM, tons of decals, WWII-themed maps, etc.
Now it sucks, we have modern vehicles (even mixed with WWII lineups like the Wiesel). We have modern vehicles, no modern decals, no modern maps (damn, you go with Abrams through Tunisia in 1943, colliding with Studebaker Model 43 trucks and halogen searchlights. The game has really lost its essence of recreating historical battles and has become a meme game that sells premium lineups (some of them p2w).

The historical game mode is why I exclusively played arcade battles as arcade battles was the only “realistic” game mode that was balanced and not forcing me into tanks I don’t want to play.

It wouldn’t be until 2016 or 2017 when I found out historical battles got correctly canned and I could actually play the first realistic tank game ever made to such detail.

Maps have no real age to them.
War Thunder was never about historical battles. All premiums are worse than to on-par with tech tree counterparts, none are superior.

But your posts’ can claim realism is a meme, I won’t stop you.

I liked when it was axis vs allies, Being able to fight zero’s in p51s over the sea. People actually having the decency to wait their turn when people were 1v1’s and generally being cheerful.

Also when there was less of a mix between modern tanks and ww2. Specifically modern artillery.
Now its an unrealistic mixed all vs all with one focus on the grind.

Hopefully WT will get better eventually

This is exactly what I mean…

This is normal I think. Ways to combat this:

  1. Play all different ranges of BR
  2. Play Air, Ground, and Naval.
  3. Play another game for a bit. You will probably miss War Thunder, distance makes the heart grow fonder as they say.
  4. Find new goals. Medals, skins, spading challenging vehicles.

I mean top tier ground is Fake AF. They are guessing on all the tanks.

If they have it, everything on the map is placed in a specific historical context.

Vehicles without proper maps are like having race cars parked in a garage.

Maybe if all of you played simulation battles it could help change your view on played out. Majority of people that complain play arcade and realistic battle. Which is both arcade type with 3rd person view. Try new way of playing, test your skills. Ive seen thousands of players with 100k kills in RB and 0 play time or kills in simulation…

Not only ground. Top tier in general (save ships ) is wikiguesswork…
Being realistic doesn’t mean 100% correct.
