The Dev Server is Opening with Major Update “Sky Odyssey”! — 04.09.2026

Matter of small tweaks. It was really nice on Leo 2 from my own tests and the type 90 was incredible.

I’m looking forward to it being expanded out to more vehicles

I’ve actually seen push back on these bombs being added. When I said “why not?they are real and historical” people literally responded with “just because”

The Germany hate can be so crazy.

It pretty much killed off the Leo 2s entirely on the dev. If RS on the Leo 2s releases anywhere close to how it performed on the dev I will never touch a leo 2 again in this game.

RS performed decently well on the Type 10 though.

The way they released the news about Regenerative Steering was a bit confusing imo. I think it was never meant to be released in this update, it was a Work-in-Progress blog and those always showcase unfinished stuff for a future update.

They just used the devserver to test it

Still a shame we didnt get to see it on a really heavy tank, like the CR2TES or something.

Because from my understanding, the benefits should be most noticable for anything quite heavy

Yeah, it felt like you were dropping nukes or you werent doing anything at all.

Taking out SAMs, naval targets, even just hitting ground targets with conventional weapons was largely meaningless compared to throwing nukes at either hte same targets or the AFs in terms of match impact.

Well a few users (me included) got to see it xD Yeah it was a user mission and a “mod” but it was just turning on RS for it.

AquaUselessGod tweaked it even further though and gave it it’s real gear ratios based on the manual or something with the help of Fireball_2020 and it was insane how agile it became with regen steering. He uploaded videos about it but for some reason they are not loading for me

Yeah, I saw clips from the first time around, when the code was first added to the ELDE, but not this time round.

its a shame they cherry picked hte tanks that got it so much, and im really fearing that if it comes to live, it will be added slowly to other MBTs over the course of a few years

I don’t know how it was back then but the Elde was absolutely horrible even now so I wouldn’t judge RS based on that lol In the Official News category you can find a thread about RS, I uploaded some videos in the past week if you are interested. I haven’t modified anything, just turned on RS for each tank

The funny thing is that you really just “turn on” regenerative steering for any tank and then it works. So I might be wrong but from what I’ve seen it shouldn’t take long to implement it for each tank. Of course some gear ratios might need to be adjusted

It looked pretty good back then.

and this is Gaijin we are talking about. I can think of a few examples of “this would be really easy to fix, and so shouldnt take them very long” that has been sat with accepted reports for 3 or 4 years at this point.

Total disagree. It makes it drive how a tank is meant to. Much more authentic and I prefer how it feels gameplay wise.

Type 90 was by far better but it’s a faster lighter tank than even the lightest Leo 2 hull.

True… And they can be a bit “clumsy” too, like didn’t the Challengers got a horsepower buff because someone pointed out that they used the wrong value? xD

I didn’t test it much, but it really did make the tanks feel a lot more like tanks lol

Eh… I cant recall the exact details. but it was a convertion error or something like that.

The bigger one more recently is probably the PW4 nerf that thankfully got reverted. Someone basically went “well, its unfair the PW4 can be dropped supersonically” and htey just nerfed it without any sources.

I mean Aqua changed the neutralGearRatio from 12 to 9 and the 2A7V became a lot better, or should I say a lot more realistic. I’ve also seen Poi-Tato change the gear ratios on the Leopard 2RI and it also became a lot better.

So yeah they were a lot more realistic than what we have now but some tweaking wouldn’t hurt

I could legit just drive keep a consistent 60 kph speed after letting go of my W keywhile only pressing A and D in the Leo 2s.

It was a joke and it’ll just kill off the Leo 2s.

No, it will make the leo 2s 10x harder to play than tanks without RS or with the better implemented version (like with the Type 10), so it will just kill off their usefulness.

This is a bug that happens to every vehicle, I did it in a Tiger II

That’s what I liked most. The potential for assisting in open terrain mobility is also very attractive, skid steer eats a lot of speed even for small angle changes, this wont

I didn’t have it with the type 10. Leo 2s actually seemed to accelerate in their turn while the Tytpe 10 still had a somewhat normal turn.

I think they actually did accelerate quite a bit while turning, it felt a bit weird
