The current and future state of Helicopter PVE

Helicopter PVE is currently full of bugs and unbalanced and has been this way for many years but devs continue to ignore this game mode. This is genuinely unacceptable to add premium helicopters (some of which are unique vehicles locked behind a paywall like the RAH-66, Rooivalk, Ka-50, etc) while leaving the only mode dedicated to helicopters with so many bugs and unbalanced things. Bugs like bases not spawning, Area A glitching and not respawning after the guy who captured it leaves the match before landing on the airfield, convoys not moving or spawning, enemy groups not spawning to attack friendly territory, and other bugs and glitches that make the experience so boring and painful.
On top of that, this mode is not balanced at all; Helicopters Like AH-56A, AH-1F, AH-1S, Tzefa D/E, Mi-24V, Mi-24P, Mi-35, Mi-8AMTSh, BO 105, HKP9A that cannot lock on targets and have to manually guide the missile towards the target, do not deserve to be in the same match as top tier helicopters that can easily just launch fire and forget missiles and leave the area.
I think it is time for the developers to give some attention to this mode or at least give us the word to ensure us that this mode is not forgotten and developers will eventually fix it.

its especially bad if you try the german tech tree that has a max range of 4km even with 12.7(until you get the mod for the rockets in tier3 which means grinding 64k research with 4km range at 12.7 to get a missile with 7km range that is about as reliable as a spike lr) and hand aiming, while everyone else gets at least hellfires that you can fire in quick succession and have a range of 8km.
might aswell bring unguided rockets and spam bases to grind it out, just to get something mediocre and still mostly unusable in GRB.
btw those bugs have been there for years and i doubt they will ever be fixed since its meant to be a bandaid mode until they know what to do with helicopters.

i think they were talking about adding them to nuclear thunder but theyd just be xp pinatas there no idea what their plan with helis is if there even is one, but its in a worse state than naval at the moment.
i guess we will see how usable they end up being in infantry mode.

They need to completely rework the game, it’s getting ridiculous. I’m just not having fun.

True
My first tree was Germany and it was a joke to play the BO 105 in helicopter PVE in the same match with Ka-52 and AH-64 helicopters that killed all targets before I could get there.

Hopefully they do
But the players need to complain again
Gaijin won’t do anything unless its getting bombarded with complaints and negative reviews

I agree. We’ve been playing the same thing for more than 10 years and nothing has changed. Only the grind got longer. They still can’t fix things like ghost shells, and that tells you a lot.

im gonna be honest here the heli pve is probably the smallest of gaijins problems right now, they still cant figure out how to balance top tier, theres still bugs in pvp game modes that have been there for years like the ammo stowages on tanks not working properly, ghost shells and the shermans suspension jittering to name a few(at least they finally got rid of the crater bug that makes your tank have a seizure and just a few days ago they fixed anti ship rockets which were incapable of even hitting a target before), naval is a giant money sink that absolutely no one plays even though it has a 1800% silver lion multiplier(cant blame anyone who would wanna play the giant water circle where you shoot from spawn to spawn like a zombie), people are rightfully complaining about ground and air mode having no changes, maps being insanely unbalanced, spawns getting camped 5 minutes into the game, (in my opinion) cas being to easy to spawn in GRB thanks to the scouting modification, the grind and required research points in higher tiers is just way to high.
maybe after fixing about 80% of these bigger issues they can start pumping some money into a proper helicopter mode or else people will lose their mind about gaijin allocating time and funds into something that currently doesnt matter all that much.

I assume the game engine needs to be updated as well.
They’re already using AI to make new premiums so why not use the money they saved by using AI instead of hiring professional artists to hire some programmers to upgrade their game engine.

True.
But they should at least give us the word that Helicopter PVE is not forgotten and will receive fixes and revisions after they fix the high priority problems.

if i remember correctly the PVE mode was never meant to be permanent it was only a band aid mode that was supposed to let you be able to grind your helis to a degree that makes them viable in GRB, so you can continue grinding there until they found a way to make a proper mode for them. they just never made a mode for helis.
people have to a degree accepted that GRB is the heli mode for now so its not forgotten it just keeps getting pushed back because of bigger issues and no real ideas on how to make a proper heli mode.
i wouldnt be surprised if this was one of the reasons they refuse to bring back uncombined battles for ground since the heli players would be impacted by far the most (and helis arent even really an issue before 12.7)
sure hope theyll find a good implementation for them within the next 2 years or at least let you go into PVE as a solo without any randoms but i seriously doubt it

Have they bothered to fix where ZSUs can intercept low tier ATGMs yet? I haven’t bothered to try Heli PVE since discovering this “feature”, probably a side-effect of tinkering with them for the nuke escalation mode.

Maybe Helis get a new life in Nuclear Escalation.
The use of Helicopters is planned there , BvvD said so himself.

theyre just gonna be xp pinatas in nuke thunder, the infantry mode might be best in the future depending on how much rewards kills get you there

they need to spawn closer to the targets with extreme jamming like tested on b-52 and tu95 also heli PVE is trash massive maps and very boring

how is jamming gonna help them against player air or the near perfect tracking of the radar guided missiles from the ai that only worked for those bombers because they were spawned behind enemy lines at 10km height usually going unnoticed.
its not gonna be viable or fun you gotta remember that all helis have a absolute max range of 8km with hellfires everything that doesnt have hellfires only gets about 4km in combination with ai in this mode even intercepting rockets, if anything its gonna be even more miserable than pve unless the rewards are something absurd like 20x. at least pve is just boring.
13.0 helis might actually do a few things with their 20km range fire and forget before getting absolutely annihilated by other players seeing a free kill.

if they make the ai worse against helis but keep them the same for jets the players are gonna crash out. as cool as combined battles like that sound they will never work out but id love to be proven wrong.

that’s BVVD job to think about all of this before pressing post my suggestion is bring electronic warfare with it

fair enough

It always bugged out when I loaded up a ton of boosters

boosters only last for 30 minutes in heli pve after 30 minutes the game will automatically use another charge of your booster if it has any or no longer apply the boosters that have run out due to the 30 minute rule (this is why so many people leave after 30 minutes)

The joke is when I take a bunch of boosters the pve bugs out so it’s wasted. Thank you for explaining it though
