True but i mostly run 1 buccaneer and one escort with propper agms that takes out the ITOs for the Buccaneer to bomb with its entire load
They basically seem to function like mavericks. Close to a B model mav i think.
and its underperforming currently

Unfortunately yes. Which means that I would no longer consider it truly 10.7 worthy even in SB, as you cant really use the 9Ls in all-aspect anymore. Quite a shame.
I found the radar was just useful for being able to IFF something and fire off a cheeky 9L. Without that, I probably wont ever bother equipping the 9Ls and so the 10.7 BR is rather frustrating. If it wasnt for the AJ168s for SEAD like you said or the Sea Eagles, I probably would just exclusively stick with the Buc S2. Same FM, same bomb load, but way easier aircraft to evade, heck, many of them you can physically outrun at 9.3
The AIM-9L is very easily decoyed by flares, so I very rarely turn on the radar in order not to let the enemy detect the attack.
A more serious problem of the Buccaneer is that it carries a ridiculous pod. Because of that, you can’t take 2×AIM-9L + 2×Martel. However, as we can see from the example of the new Su-30MK2, the pod is not mandatory at all.
Yeah. Though give something a quick scan, confirm it was hostile. switch the radar back off again. Youd be surprised by how many just continue as if they never got the RWR ping in the first place.
Had an Su-25 start pre-flaring when I pointed my radar at him, the moment I switched it off, just stopped pre-flaring, ate a 9L a few seocnds later.
It is. IRL.
The AJ168s are NOT TV guided IRL. its a total work of fiction placeholder guidance method Gaijin gave it, but IRL the data-link pod was 100% required for guiding each missile
easier to just read the report for it though: Community Bug Reporting System
So whilst it does absolutely nothing in-game and in-theory therefore shouldnt be required… it is IRL.
Even the Tornado GR1 needed the same data-link pod to carry 4x AJ168s, but thankfully, could be mounted centre line and therefore didnt conflict with anything critical.
Alternatively we could get the AJ168s that had the Anti-Radiation seeker instead, but Im not sure if the RAF actually ever operated them or not.
In any case, the Su-30MK2 has set a precedent. It might be possible to convince Gaijin to remove that pod and add a fourth missile instead.
Just saying it can use laser guided AGMs w/o a targeting pod because the IRST acts as a laser designator, Akin to PIRATE.
reminder the a10 is in fact lower
tries to be smug and shows a random good game in a different plane
sample size one means nothing
the plane is not even british in origin
what does he mean by this
I meant the Kh-59M missile that was added in the latest patch for the Su-39MK2 and Su-24M. It is TV-guided, and in reality it required the APK-9 guidance pod, which is missing in the game.
Ah I see. I did not know that they required a data-link pod. In that case, we should get it modeled on everything
Kh-59M can technically be launched without the APK-9 Datalink pod, you just wouldn’t be able to update or change it’s trajectory like in game, afaik.
I haven’t come across such information.
