to begin, there is no reason for the F104S (both of them) to be higher BR or the same BR than aircraft that are clearly better than it in every way exept top speed.

(just a few examples)
the 11.3 F-104s have no right of being at the br they are at while being as bad as they are.
=============================

the BR of this one straight up doesnt make any sense at all, despite it being clearly inferior to the japanese one
(chinese one)

(japanese one)

this aircraft should both be the same br as the 2 of them are flareless
==========================

all of the Gs are also the same br as the mig-21 Bis’s that again are way better than the 104G in every way exept top speed.
after the nerfs this planes do not belong at 11.0
==========================
now this, where do i even start

its literally worse than all planes at 12.0, it doesnt get an RWR and all you got is 9Ls, which being honest doesnt make this plane better at all.
keep in mind that this planes are the same br:

and god, dont even try to compare it to 12.3s
bc those eat it alive even more
also keep in mind this plane can face ARHs.
literally tf is it meant to do against those?
notch? your an f104
multipath?, might work once
roll the sparrow? lmao your an f104
i mean you dont even get a proper RWR, you might not even know if u have a missile fired at you

F-104S ASA should be a lower BR and probably should be 11.3 if it wasnt for the F-104S TAF at 11.3 with Aim-9Ls. So that should drop to 11.0. The others I wont comment on though as I have no idea how they perform

I can’t comment on the deep suggestion for high rank F-104 because I haven’t flown any of those.
But personally think
- If we thinks about those damn friggin F-5C(USAF) which stole CM from F-5A(ROC)
I just wonder why F-104G(ROC)
-
Remains higher than F-104J(with two extra AIM-9P) in 10.3
-
while it shares the same flareless fuselage.
Either giving a countermeasure to F-104G(ROC) to make it identical to other F-104G
or making both of them’s BR same (F-104J to 10.7 or F-104G to 10.3) might be an option.
- I agree that I don’t get why F-104S.ASA remains ‘THAT’ high.
Maybe 11.7 can be given a try, since it has a better IR missile than the normie F-104S.

Considering F-111s are 11.7, I think 4x 9Ls on one of the fastest aircraft is a good ambush fighter for 11.7.
asa at 11.3 would be like the yak 38 at 9.3, good missiles on a shit airframe so it balances it out
Pretty much every F-104 in the game is in need of a buff or br reduction after the ahistorical nerf.

Yes. They used a source which said the F-104’s immediat G pull was a lil too high, (as if that even matters for the worst dogfighter in Warthunder) and used it as an excuse to completely butcher its energy retention.
So now, not only is immediate turning STILL unrealistic, now sustained turning is unrealistic too.

The energy retention nerf that came a while ago made their speed advantage pretty much non existent even at 11.0, just some slight maneuvering will have you drop below 1200 kph which many planes can easily get to, and with heavy maneuvering which is needed to get weapons on target because of how much of a brick you are will have you drop out of the sky.
I think the all the G’s should get flares and be at 10.7, while the S should go to 11.0 and ASA 11.3 (but sadly we all know that unless a ton of players suddenly picked up the f104s and performed terribly in them to get the stats to tank, Gaijin will do nothing because they lack critical thinking skills that dont involve spread sheets…)
