The AIM-54 Phoenix missile - Technology, History and Performance

Yeah sure in theory, but in this case, it was a direct hit. IIRC direct hit in this book is defined as lethal hit.

I wasn’t saying it for the AIM-54 but just saying that the formula is moreso for direct hit as you said. But where does it equate lethal hit as direct hit in that source?

The Aim 54C needs a speed buff because it can go mach 5+

I am just mad we dont have the f14d by now
There are so many better alternatives in the game right now

And it feels like we see the f35 su57 before we see the f14D

Oh by the way, I checked with the book and lethal hit does mean prox fuse kill. I misremembered it from a documentary I watched on the Phoenix.

It’s all good, I’ve made the same mistake before.

what is that, like 20ish degrees loft? what is it rn in wt, i havent touched aim 54s in like a year.

Should loft 50-60 degrees irl afaik

surely that’s counter intuitive with that aggressive of a loft. Would make it waste a lot of energy just going to high altitude for what

Key is altitude.

They can go 100,000ft and doesn’t lose speed a lot until they start to dive and going to hit to bandits.

any info on aoa/maneuvering capability at specific speeds?

Also, any info on actual maneuvering targets?

There are some mention in -1A supplemental manual and -1T tactical manual that is still classified

pm?

They aren’t public in internet and there are noting I can do until Iranian F-14 is gone.

I have -1A manual from late 1970s but, can’t share it :/

ah darn

U got a -1A manual? I thought all of them were still classified, even the very early ones.

It’s probably still covered under ITAR, so not useful for submissions at this point in time.

Early -1A is already unclassified since 1995.

Problem is export control.

Cover of -1A manual mention about “special” export control.
