I take 90 because i want some for after the first dodge or two.
Lol. I have zero issues with all other IR missiles. The only ones i hate using are r60s and pythons.

just use them like Magic 2s then, with the exception that you can hit Headons aswell, the P3 is literally the best non IRCCM missile and still beats stuff like the Aim9M.
if you multipath and/or notch properly you don’t need chaff to dodge most missiles, maybe some for like fakours just to be safe and while dogfighting pop one or two every now and then. After the decompression you have no real threats, the only real threats were the Mica Doritos, now all you have to do is look out for are J11Bs and J10As, long range Fakours at the start, and maybe the SAAF Gripen.
The p3 is not that good
its flare resistant even on afterburning targets is not that good unless your extremely close while the 9L will most likely ignore your flares if the planes engine is afterburning
Compared to the 9L yes it does pull slightly better of the rail and is a bit better at close range but has a short burn time and a lot more drag
Calling it an sidegrade isn’t that dishonest when gaijin puts it as a tier 2 mod after the 9m
Also calling that better than the 9m is pure cope
I still have the clip of me kill a su 27 at 10 km on a front aspect so idk in what why a p3 is better than the 9m unless its in close range
Even on head on i can still make the 9m work as long as i lead it so when i fire it would see the flares
With magic 2, i can use in rear aspect vs a defensive target.
Ngl, i would take the aim9m over the python. R60s or python are just bot my style and dont work in 90% of the times i use them.
I guess it depends on how many missile end up at me. Only 20 pops until im running flares only kind of sucks.
might just be my bias against low pull IR missiles, cause lets be real what the points of an IR missile if you have to ideally use it within 3-5km (might aswell sling a fox3), i just prefer my IR missiles to actually be capable at close range, the P3 does exactly that while the 9L and M are more than lacking. the F16 is a dogfighter so you want appropriate missiles (you dont use a fork to eat soup do you?)
I like them because they are great for ambushing. Main reason i love the r27et. I can fire them from like 8km out where no one expects IR missiles to he fired from.
Just like how the r60 and python dont work for me since the ranges needed are basically shotgun with the need for the enemy to not know what flares are.
unless they’re pre flaring it’s a guaranteed kill on Afterburners, if they shut it off you can catch up and either go for another closer shot or guns so a win-win imo.
different playstyles i guess, id honestly take R60s over 9Ls on an F16, on different airframes like an F15 or M29 i could see the arguement for the Aim9s though just depends on your playstyle and airframe imo.
When you sling a fox 3 he will be aware of your presence and everybody else around him will too
A sneaky fox 2 at that distance is a better choice and he will probably mot realize that you fired at him until its too late
well you sure do alert them but its too late to defend unless theyre at lower ish speeds although again depends on what missile etc.
Seems to be the case.
I will take aim9d over aim9j in most cases simply for the ability to pop missiles from ranges where people think they are safe.
oh at lower BRs i totally agree with that, at higher BRs especially i just like to really play around my airframes strengths (F16: agility, F15/M29 : High alt BVR, Mirage Gripen Su27: low alt rat style, F18: J out and use smth that is actually not terrible)
I remain the same at all brs.
I prefer r27et over r73.
Only issue with the r27et is that you can only carry like 2
youll love the SU34 then
I do love the weapon selection on it.
Though the airframe kind of sucks, radar is mid, and no HMS.
If it at least had HMS, it would probably end up as one of my most played russian jets.
True but the f16 has a very conservative play style especially at top tier because you only have 6 missiles
You have to make every missile count or atleast try to
Its a great dogfighter but that doesnt mean you can win against everything because of your fm
At top tier usually the play is 5 aim 120 and 1 9m for closer engagement
Your have to play like a rat and constantly be aware of your positioning and where the enemy will be
That entirely depends on the F16 we are talking about, personally i avoid US F16s since they don’t suit my playstyle at all, the AMRAAM and Aim9s are just major disappointments in HOBS and close range situations, i much prefer the P3s and Derbys over them. Pre Nerf 120s were amazing after the nerfs i never really toched the F16s again, i just spaded the new ones (wasn’t fun) and ye. the F16D on the other hand was an amazing expirience, you are a bit more fat but gain access to derbys and HMD at 13.3, cant say about the F16C Barrack yet since i was lazy to spade it, and the F16I is overtiered and outclassed when it comes to missile kit and flight performance
The only reasons why its good is because you get down tiers to 12.3
Derby is not bad at hobs true ive played with them before
Still the worse performing fox 3 in game overall
Currently the f16c is decent and the aim 120 is pretty much a jack of all trade with the 9m taking care of people trying to notch at close range
Usually the best way is to fire them both at 1 target so if they try to notch or multipath they will need to flare on a side aspect where the 9mwill perform in that scenario
It´s outrageous that this thing is 13.0 in simulator.
