Why do you REFUSE to listen to your playerbase?
SO MANY PEOPLE said this was a horrible idea. You can’t just balance off of STATS. Id have preferred it lose the APHE than go up.
Now its stuck fighting Tigers and Panthers again, That it can’t pen. And you can’t even cupola snipe like you can with the Jumbo’s and such because its SO much shorter than the Shermans.
And the APHE is so much worse than the Solid shot. It makes it so much harder to actually kill Soviet vehicles. KV1’s especially are a Pain now, the Solid shot would punch through the mantlet and hurt the crew inside, the APHE just detonates inside the mantlet and does no real damage.

All the more reason for widespread decompression
If the devs aren’t going to change their balancing methods (I’ve posted about the flaws in the system before) then they need to:
-
Implement some level of full tree decompression so that small BR changes don’t shunt vehicles into combat environments they can’t effectively compete in; and
-
more effort should be put into encouraging players to play a variety of trees (a combo of daily research bonuses, random nation of the day bonuses, and/or trying to equally avalanche out new and unique additions to trees) so that the average experience level of each nation (upstream of the performance metrics used for balancing) doesn’t cause an input bias

More effort should be put into getting people to play OTHER VEHICLES.
Tank destroyers are a Vital part of a team, yet people refuse to use them. Despite having devastating guns.
I love playing my Dicker Max or Stuer Emil some times. Just knocking holes in Tanks at range with ease.

Well it’s completely invulnerable to American 75mm and Soviet 76mms, even from the sides and rear. It shouldn’t be seeing early T-34s and M4A1s in downtiers. Don’t even mention the turret roof argument since that literally doesn’t work and ricochets the shell 90% of the time.

Don’t forget the air intakes. And the turret roof. Within like 300m any Russian 76 can overmatch and pen that turret roof.
the air intake shot with m61 shot will blow the engine and (if crew vitality isnt maxed) will wreck the turret

The turret roof is way too sloped and ricochets even Russian APHE.
Open up that protection map then. Prove to me your not pixel hunting
this plus 15mm effective protection from tracks is easy to hit with a 75mm
is that not what any weakspot past 400m is anyway?
Even if you for some reason think the Churchill 7 is 4.7 material, the thing is straight up better than the KV-1 ZIS-5. It has more armor, a better gun, and gun handling. It was only equal cuz if the worse firepower. Now that it’s got APHE it’s way better than KV-1. I’ll support 4.7 if it loses APHE

KV1 zis 5 has:
armour thats stopping almost everything the churchill is (either youre a 17pdr or youre not much better than a 75mm sherman at that BR)
more mobility
far more trolly volumetric
and a formiddable lineup of T-34-57 and 152mm TD.
my stats are also very solid considering 1/3 of this was spading
Churchill has:
faster reload
slightly more pen
no reverse gear
flat armour and a very easy HE spot with the roof
I found the KV1 is far more noob friendly than the churchill and despite a little less pen (i was using solid shot so it was 4mm difference with more reliable angle pen) was still killing things all the same, but could do it quicker as i actually got to the fight before it was already determined

I bonk Churchills in the turret roof ALL the time with the APHEBC from my KV1E.
Honestly the Zis-5 Should be moved back down. there is no reason for that thing to be 5.0 either.
Especially considering the KV-7 is basically it, at 4.3, with 2 extra guns, Just without a turret.

the KV85 is 5.0, which honestly is also fine as is. that gun is god tier up to 6.3
