Hi, do you think terrain following radars could be integrated into the game? They could be particularly effective in battle simulators because they would allow more effective approaches.
For the implementation I was thinking of a new SAS mode that would allow it to be easily activated (the SAS modes would therefore be: manual, damping, altitude hold and terrain following)
This mode would allow the aircraft (depending on what the radar can do) to follow the terrain (altitude and speed), avoid collisions with the ground and/or choose optimized paths. Terrain following radars can be integrated into the aircraft or mounted in a pod under one of the aircraft’s hardpoints.
Example of terrain-following radar :
AN/APQ (99,110,115,116,126,134,…)
Antilope V

Would be awesome. Would love it in my Tornado, keeping a level alt at low altitude is a pain due to SAS issues. So yeah, would be awesome to get TFR. As an SAS mode would make the most sense initially. At least until we perhaps got a better auto-pilot in-game then it should be an auto-pilot mode instead of SAS.
Would also work great if it came with more weather and time combos in Sim. Like that low alt fog we had briefly
I would also love to see the display of a TFR in the cockpit, appart from all the benefits as an SAS mode. I hope Gaijin at least add them with the 4.5 gen jets.
This is mainly why I proposed this addition. I imagined myself in simulation on Afghanistan in Mirage 2000D to maintain 120 feet at 600 knots and it would be so satisfying
I’d say something to add in the future once Gaijin fix the tree sizes and heights, like four stories maximum for anything not a redwood or fir…the cherry tree outside my window is three stories not fifteen
