Teamkilling is becoming more prevalent due to the absurd grind, especially at the higher tiers.
The reward you get is so tiny, that you need every kill in a match in order to progress even the tiniest bit.
Dont get me wrong, teamkilling isnt good, but i TOTALLY understand teamkilling. If you were going after a plane in ARB and a teammate is going to go for the enemy as well, i totally understand that you would take out your teammate first.
We are talking about 800-1000 points and a potential RP boost if you kill 3 planes in the match.
Over a match of 10 minutes that could be 5-8K RP.
I think that might be a good addition to the game, if you team killed, you are marked as a traitor, and can be killed by teammates (may or may not give them points, don’t want it to get abused)
Last night in Air Arcade I had someone TKing another to seemingly stop them from capping the first airfield. They caused such a problem because others tried to save the person who was being atacked, and it ended up in a massive squabble about who did what, and that the team was going to lose because of that.
Just straight terrible.
The silliness of it is the argument I can report through the main game, but for the TK I have to go review the server replay, then go search for it again, and then report the player who did it IF I get the review done in the first place.
And then we get the ‘Oh but it’s automated’ response.
Don’t get me wrong, but it seems like you’re trying to validate and excuse TKing… It’s NEVER alright.
To clarify, I don’t agree with teamkilling, and I’m not trying to justify it. I think what I suggested would be better than just kicking them out of the match,
As sometimes it’s funny, or even unavoidable and understandable if you are surrounded by the enemy team and a 5000kg gets dropped on you.
Yep, I commonly accept that I’m mere collateral if a big bomb is dropped and it’s for the greater good. The maintaining of the ground control is the true goal.
Teamkill inside af bubble → 1 day ban instantly → problem solved

Really though, teamkillers getting tagged has some worth to it.
Would be a good feature, if you teamkill someone and they don’t forgive you in, say, 30 seconds then you get marked as an enemy to both sides
It’d be better in a wider sense that the criteria for the action that they say is there, should be more effective.
If they are just ignoring this punishment then the punishments need to be ramped up more, with longer times for those who keep doing it with a direct threat to close their account for more serious infractions.
Like those who were getting the entire team in RB, those guys shouldn’t be back. Or the TKing squads, remove them entirely.
To further clarify, it’s important to differentiate teamkilling from accidents. In Ground-RB is really rare and I find it quite understandable if the person responsible apologize. Also, sometimes in Air-RB, people get a bit to enthusiastic about chasing and hitting a target that they might damage friendlies (even tough this vulture-like attitude is anoying as [redacted]).
I think it would be a good implementation to ask the player shot down if he wants to report instantly the shooter. Like a yes or no question after the occurrence.
Although, what I had in mind when writing this was the teamkillers on Air-RB. Who teamkill friendlies upon taking off the airfield. Then proceed to play the game as if nothing happened, and considering you only get 1 plane for the match, it’s really annoying waiting to find a match, load, spawn… and get shot down in less than 30 seconds.
Btw, why not a timed invulnerability like in Ground-RB. It’s not like we will stumble onto enemies in a minute. But I would much rather see them teamkillers get trolled.
Another idea would be to pretend the teamkiller he managed to kill the pilot by removing the playertag and giving him kill message, then he gets the ghost bullets, get marked like a flare for all in the match, keep turning his engine off, have the plane shoot randomly, reduce his flight performance turning him into a kite in case he’s on a good dogfighter (damn I got creative lol).
Btw, this doesn’t account for players who can’t get a good lock on enemies w missiles, again, accidents happen, but if it happens too often, like… send him an official message saying like: “YO BUD, how bout learning to use heatseekers or maybe, just maybe, don’t shoot em if there’s loads of allys ahead”.
I didn’t even knew about this RP stuff, but… simply friendlies shouldn’t count as a kill, quite simple, could actually count as -1.
Also, it’s not understandable to shoot down teammates to get a kill… like… at all. This is selfish vulture attitude, break off and try another approach or disengage or way for an opening. Whoever is in front and nearest to the target is the pursuer, the rest are vultures.
Going forward remember that you can report individuals using the server replay function. Additionally, please use this thread for discussing teamkillers going forward instead of making a new thread. Team killing policy - follow up thread
