Tank damage

What the hell is wrong with tank damage?
My friend shot a tank 9 times, every part of the enemie’s tank was red, including crew but would not die.

This happends to me too, darts and spall can fly through models and only turn everything red.

Share a video clip.

Otherwise we don’t have any information to work with.

yeah I agree with @Necrons31467 we need to see to help know what’s going on

This is my friend’s clip and I’ll go try to dig up mine.

Similar things have happened to me, including an exact case of an enemy who, after I killed half his crew with one shot, refused to die to the point of being able to repair and kill me, managing to withstand about 9 or 10 APDS penetrations.
Why is this happening? I simply have no idea. The only thing I can think of is that the server is losing information, so the damage isn’t being recorded. This issue of not registering damage or penetrations usually happens frequently, but for it to happen with more than three shots in a row is quite rare.

We’re at a point where world of tanks damage is actually more consistent than damage modelling in warthunder. That’s the low state this game is no at.

I “like” how the components turned from black to red when hit again.

Looks like connection issue and/or server stroke.
Is there a server replay so we can see what the server saw?

Sidenote: bro really used his laser rangefinder at that range.

I’m guessing this is the client replay and not the server replay, right?

Usually this happens when there’s a obstacle infront of your target according to the server, but not according to your client.

A vehicle corpse for example can show up on a different spot than it actually is, so it might look like you’ve got a clear shot but in reality there’s a tank corpse blocking the target.

That looks like recording of the actual game and not a replay. Ping is under 50 and PL at 0% the whole time. But we do need the server replay anyway

wait i am sorry it is kinda out of topic but is that Rammstein in the background ?

Yeah, that replay is prob lost in history, but I think we can all agree this is some bs

Stuff like this makes me wonder if there is some kind of pity system in War Thunder where if someone dies too many times in a row or has a Premium vehicle they get crazy RNG buffs of some kind.

It’s like it was spalling before hitting the tank armour, so a wreck in front of you but invisible on your client side?

Probably not “pity”, but WT has been around long enough that they could have algos that measure such things for “user engagement/satisfaction” the same way casinos do to keep players gambling longer.
Who hasn’t had a string of “2 and outs” that finally gets broken by a “good game” where it seems like some of the enemy are bots? /tinfoil

I really don’t know if there’s some kind of artificial advantage for those who pay or lose a lot (personally, I hope not). What has happened to me is that when I shoot an enemy and the game saves them, a little while later I check the leaderboard and that same player is near the top with a ton of kills, giving the impression that they had to have a good game and had the whole game backing them up. Another curious thing, which definitely happens to me, is that if I kill, for example, 12 or 14 enemies in a match, the next match will almost certainly be terrible, with absurd bounces and damage-free penetrations so I can barely get any kills and I lose my tank quickly.

These situations might be an unfortunate coincidence, but the fact that the game has a worse damage and penetration model than it did 8 years ago makes it seem premeditated to anger some players and benefit others. It’s incomprehensible that a game would be better in its first few years after release, and then get worse the older it gets. In fact, I have a theory that War Thunder was commissioned from another company, and when the contract ended and Gaijin took over the game entirely, that’s when the game went to ruin.

No, but WT did start out as a pure WWII air combat game (Birds of Steel) that has slowly, but sometimes abruptly expanded to include modes and features the original programmers never considered. It still has some of those original bugs and gets worse every time they add something.

It also lost features along the way.

No canopy damage, no wing damage except for a few skins (cant tell you got hit by a 20mm in P-51C for instance), no oil stains on canopy from engine damage or (altho flying very close behind someone does cause temporary staining), no water droplets when flying thru clouds on canopy.
