Take the Tiger II (P) back to 6.3

Reread my comment. That section begins with

Because Panthers can’t meaningfully angle in close quarters - side armour can be overmatched at almost any angle.

It does not make sense for the objectively much worse Tiger 2P to be the same BR as the objectively much better Tiger 2H and SLA.16 variants

Not a very good take.

Tiger II (P)'s only problem is the same problem every 5.7-6.7 tank is facing, the 6.7 tanks weren’t moved up with the last BR decompression

When the 6.7 tanks become 7.0 it’ll be fine

You simply have a bias towards the Tiger and these TDs over the Panther. I’ve checked your playtime. You have a warped view on the Panther in CQB versus how it actually performs

Problem is not solved by uptiering the Tiger 2 where it doesn’t belong

M26 has better side armor, much better reverse and more filler, which are the big disadvantages of the panther.

But maybe if they nerf the rounds again

All the 5.3 tanks were moved to 5.7, the 5.7 tanks to 6.0, the 6.3 tanks to 6.7

The Tiger II is facing the same tanks it did previously, the problem is the 6.7 bracket is a black hole right now because there’s no 7.0 tanks

The Tiger 2’s round is capable of penetrating any tank it comes across besides the IS-3 / 4 which were moved to 7.3, should be zero problem

You still have to aim for weakspot for example the M26E5 has only a few places, but I guess this tank would move up too so it doesn’t matter

I have to aim for the Tiger 2’s cheeks, it’s the same shtick.

On those angles still ricochet from side plates

There was 5 tigers, if there was 2 panthers i would die

T26E5 still lacks its historical armor

Yeah, but I meant that it is not point and click for the tiger 2 even for tanks at the same br.
The problem with 6.7 american tanks is that you need to know the weakspots while for soviet and german vehicles it’s most of the time the turret (T44, Tiger 2p and h, IS6 etc.).
Plus flat surfaces like the tiger 2 h turret face has less volumetric hell

T26E5 has hole in center of mantlet tiger 2 can kill turret crew if hit there.

I found the Tiger 2 to be a massive disappointment and irrelevant by the time you get into its BR game range. In real life it only had relevance for a very short period of time.As you say with the Jagdpanthers available why bother with it? Huge bullet magnet and pointless unless you get a down tier.

Whole problem with an of the armour legends in War Thunder they face the uptier and modern ammo and are far from legendary and the whole point of playing the game becomes somewhat pointless.

Do I always have to suffer in most games as a result of having superiority in a few? Hardly balance. Hardly enjoyable.

Yeah but it isn’t point and click. Some people here think the long 88 is this really powerful gun which destroys everything without the need to aim.

I don’t know much about the T26E5 historical armor, but if it’s wrong you should report it.

It was reported 2 years ago. And it fixes hole in the mantlet

Isn’t that sort of the point, though? I like them more, so I use them more. And while I’ve used the Panthers far less in percentage, it’s not like the amount of matches I have in them is tiny in absolute terms, or the results atrocious. I just… Don’t find them as impressive or reliable as other options in the TT. I’m not saying they’re bad, just that they’re way more situational than you’d expect from a medium.

I am also completely open to the idea that I’m missing something, just to be clear. But for the time being, I call it as I see it: great gun + strong UFP makes the Panther strong at range, but it’s unremarkable at best when it comes to get close and push.

I think the production variants of the Tiger II would be fine at 7.0 if we had meaningful decompression of the current 8.0.

Somehow I’m not holding my breath.

They have same side armor as another mediums, but much better gun and UFP, with still normal mobility.
