T32 vs. T32E1 opinions

Hello there!

I’m opening this topic to ask for your opinion on these two very similar tanks!

The T32 is rated at 7.3; I feel like it performs very well at that, but the T32E1 is rated at 7.7; and I think it’s useless at that BR bc its main advantage – namely, the removal of frontal weak spots – is no longer an advantage, as you’re up against tanks that don’t care about your armour.

What’s even the point then? Unless playing in downtier, which hardly ever happens tbh.

I found the T32E1 to be surprisingly good however unlike most heavy tanks that can function in uptiers, it can only ever be spawned when it’s top or 8.0 games late into matches. I think it’s fine that way since you have other 7.7s to use in uptiers and after the changes today the M48 goes from a good to excellent.

The dusty M103? It cant even 1 pop.the tiger 2 on the test drive without moving.
AP/HEAT US heavies are comparativly tbe worst tanks iv ever used

T29 > all the other US heavies and thats BR 7.0- if thats the standard they should all.be lowered under it.

Yeah, it eats at its own BR. It’s similar to the T26E5 in that regard. Bring M103 if you’ve been uptiered (or if you’re me, you bring T114), and then eat up at your BR or in downtiers with E1.

T114 is great- its sadly on its own though at 7.7

M103 in a uptier? I sadly tried to.play it again last night. You might as well.not bother as it was getting 1 popped by 8.0 leopard. HEATs also detroyed it if hull down. Paired with the AP or the HEAT and its 17 second reload,… join next game to save sanity after t114 dies

Honestly, i think they’re generally alright, but the gun feels rather underpowered for the BR. Especially against angles.

Personally, I generally advocate for both to drop down in BR slightly - T32 to 7.0, and T32E1 to 7.3. Not like it’d be unbalanced, either. And it makes sense, it’s just a slightly harder to kill King Tiger; and the E1 variant is not on par with the M103 either. Makes no sense for both to be 7.7 when one is clearly better.

I also advocate for the T95 to go to 6.7, but that’s a different topic.

Agree with this one, it’s food that can easily be popped with a cupola shot.. But T32 can stay away from 7.0, but i also disagree with them reverting the BR change on the T26E5. Can you imagine 6.0 downtiers in the T32 against Tiger 1 and co? lol.

I mean, Germany already gets to do so with the Tiger 2 (6.3 and 6.7, though I’m mainly referring to the H). Don’t see why the US can’t have something similar.
The baseline T32 still has the large and obvious MG port weakspot to target (and a slightly weaker UFP compared to the E1 variant). The turret is still annoying, but that goes for a lot of vehicles at the BR.
Besides, it’d still be sitting slightly above the King Tiger, since it’s only slightly better (Outside of the gun and side armor, anyways). People will handle it just as they have handled other such targets.

And besides, it wouldn’t make much sense to have both the base T32 and the E1 variant both at 7.3 now, would it?

As for this, I don’t see the issue keeping it at 6.7. The short 90mm already struggles as it is (Especially in tanks that have M318 solid shot, which is missing ~30mm of pen) at 6.7, having poor angle performance and low pen, unless it is one of the HEAT-FS armed vehicles. The T26E5 at least makes up for it by having relatively thick armor on the front.
The issue itself is keeping the base M26 at 6.7, while having the T26E5, T26E1-1, and M26E1 all at 6.7 as well, despite being better in one way or another (armor, gun, or, in the case of the E1-1, both). The base M26 belongs at 6.3, not 6.7.

Alternatively, if APCR were restoratively buffed to what it actually should be capable of doing, the current BRs of both would suddenly be fine.

373mm pen and an actually wide spalling cone after penetration on a platform that is about as mobile as a Pershing.

I never said the E1 should go down to 7.3, lol, that was you. Only thing I agreed with was T95 going down. But as for Base M26, that can piss right off to 6.3. No point using it if you have anything else unlocked.

The one with the longer and better guns wins. #WTF Is a Kilometer

Didn’t imply you said so.
I was only throwing it in because I was trying to say that it would be silly to only move one but not the other, since you did not oppose (at least visibly) the E1 dropping in BR.

That’s what I’m thinking. I don’t get why the t32e1 is paired at 7.7 with the m103. It should just sit at 7.3 so you could play both t32 and t32e1 in your lineup which would be funier tbh since USA doesn’t have many interesting 7.3 tanks outside of the t32 (for my taste). Plus it’s not like you can kill a t32 easily on the side if you’re playing tricky.
