T-64A A tank that does not deserve an inflated BR in 9.3. As a comparison, I will take the Leopard 1A5 and T-72A, which are also at 9.3. The T-64A does not have an anti-aircraft machine gun (which can be useful against light tanks, of which there are many at this BR), does not have a laser rangefinder (the Leopard 1A5 and T-72A have one), no smoke grenades, poor armor (it does not save, this tank can still be penetrated in the upper glacis) and the engine is weaker than the Leopard 1A5 and T-72A. According to the card and in implementation, the tank does not deserve 9.3, but 9.0, where it can stand more or less next to the T-62M-1.

Research T-64B then? It’s folded if I’m not wrong so it’s easier to grind. I suggest you using T-64A on specific Simulator Battle rotation where this vehicle could be better used.
One of it’s biggest selling points was supposed to be good UFP armor, but it simply doesn’t have that against many darts it will usually face. Reload is quite nice though.
It could go down to 9.0, as it’s probably one of the worst 9.3 MBTs.

The ~8.0-10.0 BR bracket remains heavily compressed. At an objective level, there’s no reason for the T-64A to be at the same BR as the T-72A, which is a straight upgrade for it (Better armor, LRF, safer ammo storage, .50 cal).
But at the same time, sending it down to 9.0 means all of the 8.0 vehicles that rely on HEATFS rounds suddenly have to contend with something that’s coated in composite armor, but not saddled with the long reloads of the Type 88s and especially the T-62M-1.
As always, we need decompression.

For the trade off, I THINK they are pretty close, having played both the turret armor of T-64A really showing in full downtier.

It’s fine where it is. Saying that, I wouldn’t use it over BMP3/BMD4/Object279/T72A, etc. Think of it as a line-up filler for emergency situations. Even if you don’t have access to the event/premiums around its BR.
Leopard 1A5 has Almost no armour in comparison to the T-64 which is exactly why it is this low BR
But Leo 1A5 has TVD, while T-64A doesn’t have it. Also Leo 1A5 has reverse speed, LSR, smokes and 4 crews, which means it has better survivability than T-64A. And Leo A1A1(9.0) doesn’t has LSR, but just Rangefinder like T-64A, it still has smokes and reverse speed. Also about T-64A, in 9.3~ there’s either experienced players who knows where to shoot, or players after 8.0-9.0 where everyone penetrates everyone and shooting into Hull is better than into Turret, T-64A’s turret armor doesn’t save most times.
The T-64A is great. You’re just playing it wrong.
You can say this with every tank, if you don’t provide arguments or proofs. But still don’t make sense.

Still no arguments. Just ‘T-64A is great’. I’ve played T-72A which overall is better than T-64A, while being in same BR. And T-72A is best of how I played GRB.
I’m not terribly interested in convincing you about how incorrect you are. The tank is great and any failings you have with it are not the fault of the vehicle. Your inability to identify the strong suits of the vehicle and leverage them is your failing also.
You are still pretty fresh to the game though so this is probably down to a lack of experience/skill. This may change with time.

Saying you’ve also played germany and US is quite disingenuous when you’ve barely played them, especially in comparison to russia. Within the ranks where the T-64A live and above you have only 3 vehicles that aren’t russian and they’re two german premiums and a german squadron vehicle.
You have essentially zero experience outside of russia at that BR.
You lack perspective, and this will come as you gain experience and play other nations.
