It works. Just not when You are in a tank
Nothing to do with the fuse the rolands agility was essentially removed with the missile changes, they even tryd to buff it again recently but even helicopters can dodge the roland 1/2s as they are extremely unresponsive especially over longer ranges.
Agreed with you and the map suck make tanks gameplay are not enjoyable too force people to play CAS
Okay okay so that mode made SPAA almost useless because there is nothing for them to do it job
instead of NO CAS option how about make the map better not just rush cap J out and CAS eh?
finish guns xD
Also because CAS doesn’t have current Anti-Ship bombs,… therefore most bomb using GP system are unable to sink down into the boat and explode nearby the bottom line of any ship(except bluewater one), which would cause much less damage than IRL
A ship is always far bigger than a tank, and the results is shown by itself.
Yes, but this is just the team/solo divide. We all play the game differently, some of us appreciate the team element regardless of the Random Battle, which is why statistics are just really how people make use of the Random Battle and why statistics are almost impossible to read/compare due to the many ways people approach this game.
I am sure in a true Squadron battle the meta is very different even though the best way to play is in unison regardless of this, just some of us apparently try to achieve this no matter the difficulties, others do their own thing; there is no “right” way with that in mind and so statistics being always relevant to a discussion is very much not as useful as you might believe (and when the majority of actions in game are not shown in the statistics we have access to).
SPAA being multi-role a lot of the time (as I used them as cappers/ground on ground) will make it very hard to have only but the most dedicated player to have the statistics to prove anything, and then there is no information on what caused a vehicle’s demise (killed by air or ground or J out or Team Kill); much is guesswork.
Torpedoes
When the HOOD got sunk in WW2 by the British they used the new developed earthquake bomb, but it took like a dozen (not very good at high altitude bombing) before she keeled over, ever since ww2 its torps or anti-ship missils
We can say that we play game differently and that is true, but what is also true that some people are what team requires in order to win and some are just a burden.
If someone is trying to say that he doesn’t need to kill in order to be useful for the team, he can be right. For light tanks, something like spotting is also a very usefull thing, but then there is a huge difference when it comes to at what B.R. he is playing.
-
If it is his downtier, then he as a best tank of the team, should be rather trying to destroy the targets as he is just the best vechicle (most capable of). Can’t think of a light tank which at a downtier (-1 B.R.) would not be very good when it comes to killing enemy targets.
-
If he is on Uptier and his gun doesn’t allow him to do much, then spotting is the best what he can do for the team, maybe flanking too if the said light tank has a good movement.
But in both of this scenarios, if a player refuses to kill and dies more than kills, he becomes a little burden for the team, as the enemy team gets more than it loses (when it comes to that particular player). Good that he spotted 3 players (which probably were seen by everyone really, as maps are made that way), but he has also given enemy team SP that allows it to bring better vechicles (air). Better for the team would be if he could take even one enemy out before dying.
And then it is just for light tanks really, their role is being broaden by the scouting mechanic. In this topic we were talking about something different.
When it comes to playing in a squad (because this is how I understand it, not gonna talk about SQB as I stopped playing it a long time ago), You really don’t care about anything than kills. I remember doing golden wagers where we were just driving thru the map and destroying anyone that was in our sight. For rest I have responded in above and below comment.
The best part is that I have never posted any of players stats here or said at what kind of stats I’m looking at. When it comes to KDR, the one who stated that, was the one who felt attacked because someone dared to look at his stats really. When it comes to SPAA I have already talked in different topics that it is hard to see if someone is doing well in SPAA because on the ground You also have tanks that You need to think about. (If You want to, I can dig it out). When I said that he needs to get better is because he lacks understanding of what mostly matters in game.
I will always defend the ‘KDR’ argument, as after 60k battles, I have known many players who tried to say that it doesn’t matter and that they are doing other things for the team… to just see them in a game and really see how they don’t do much.
If someone feels offended because You are going to look at their own stats (that were made by them, no one else), then there is always a reason for that.
Coming back to SPAA talk, if someone is really going to say that they are effective, I would like to see that effectivnes in something other than just words. After overpressure mechanic was implemented and guided missles got nerfed, I have played air vechicles and have seen how it affected their performence and how ineffective they have become compared to new armament which was added for the air. One can argue that the nerf for guided weaponary also affected the air, but by flying the heli I know that it is much harder for SPAA to hit moving target than from heli perspective to destroy the said SPAA (if someone would argue that You should try to move with SPAA, then oh boy, try it and see how Your missle will never really hit the target ((not talking about people flying in straight line or hovering))).
So yes, if someone is coming to the topic which I have tested myself and wants to just go by ‘just take SPAA bro’ argument, then I will need something more than ‘just trust me bro, it works’.
I find the problem with SPAA is that CAS often spawns in waves then passes quickly.Often you have died because the air is filled with CAS and by the time you respawn in SPAA the air threat has gone leaving you to fight in a vehicle that is often useless .The guns that are supposed to fire flak such as the 88 or YAG are a joke to use.
It often makes sense to take the heavy tank if you have the SP .The other issue is one of elevation. If an good flyer comes in steep they are often impervious to AA and the player in SPAA can’t even see them.In real life this would not happen unless the player had the sun behind them maybe.
If Gaijin feel SPAA is a balance for CAS then they should have made it better after 11 years. The answer seems to be to put out 70s and 80s CAS in the WW2 era.Hardly the work of the genius .It simply makes flying a drag and spoils the game for the tanker while killing off any notion of immersion.
It’s a bit telling that he’s a bit more worried because he now puts up a page or 2 of validation, whilst still ignoring that they actually did nothing the entire time they were getting all cocky and riley…
They KNOW they went too far, and they are just covering thier ass now…
Honestly, ULQ should just have said sorry, and been engaging, but NOOOOOO had to merely check stats and proclaim that it was the be all end all like an elitist…
As I said, You being offended about stats tells the whole story.
You’ve not addressed the points I made, you’re still trying to validate your statshaming nonsense…
Obviously doubling down on your abuse, but hey, get fragged… You ain’t jack…
What points?
I have adressed all points about the game and why KDR matters, You are the one who doesn’t want to acknowledge simple facts.
SPAA isn’t effective at preventing CAS from dominating. To believe otherwise is to either open yourself up to the world as a bad player and/or fool, or to simply show how you abuse CAS and want it to stay
I was talking of AP bombs, such as we could see on some japanese bomber aircrafts (G5N1 // G8N1) that were made to penetrate target before exploding.
Most bombs today are GP models, and ricochet off the bridge, when you do use a delayed explosion timer
See, you don’t even know what I said you’re so fixated on your precious KDR stance which is obviously ignorant to the discussion and points being raised here, on the forum, where we discuss and encourage thinking…
You encourage mere statchecking and assumption, and thus, you, are the problem.
Just look at the interjecting randoms that you brought in here… They’re examples of the playerbase YOU encourage… Abusive, shoot from the hip ‘my friend has good kdr, he’s good’ nonsense…
You should’ve been told to shut up more, but you weren’t and this is what we end up with… A leg humping puppy who didn’t get flicked off.
KDR matters for people trying to size their dicks,…
KDR doesn’t mean anything against Game design,…
But that’s the issue, I never even said it had to be effective… That’s ULQs fixation that led to that line of ‘issue’…

If You are going to tell that something is good/effective, I encourage people to check if that is true. Normal way of thinking. If You can’t back up Your own words, then You are just lying.
Really? Guess what Gaijin have said.
‘As War Thunder is primarily a PvP focused game and getting kills is the ultimate goal to win battles’
