will lean more to US side though, US jets always meant to be used together in numbers especially with new ones like F-35
from what i understand russians focus more on ground to air communications and aircraft are used in smaller groups

Su-57 cannot use its IRST system without comprimising it’s frontal aspect RCS.
The dome has a cover that is retracted. The Jet cannot operate with the IRST cover retracted if it wishes to remain in low observation configuration.
wrong
No if you open the cover that glass orb is going to give you a really nice return.
This has been simulated, and the reason why the F-35 has this wonderful angular recessed IRST system.
Unless Russian DIRCM is so impressive it can intercept Radar emissions you cannot argue with how electromagnetic radiation will function.
so when are you going to actually read for once?
that is not the IRST that is behind the cover
but the turret is just the effector no? the sensors would just be regular UV MAWS, which are known to be worse than IR for range, and only works when the missile is burning so it would be useless as IRST
can you post untranslated image, maybe there was an issue
I said the IRST system which is infront of the cockpit?
Has a cover because if it didnt the potential Radar returns would massively degrade the airframes “stealth”
Is this not the IRST system?
It is. Just need to read my brother
no
“The Systems Capabilities are similar to those of the 101KS-V”
which is the IRST in the front
wrong again
it is UV + IR on the newer sensors

and UV + NIR on the older ones

there was no issue in the translation
ok, so its like a 360 IRST that needs to be rotated for full coverage.
Not for the upper neck one.
As the cockpit cover around 30°
But then again. Not counting the front irst.
Or less.
the turrets are rotating at all time due to their job
after detecting a missile it will stop spinning to point a laser at the missile
because, well you cant focus a laser on something when the thing keeps spinning
so full 360 IRST capability, pretty nice.
There is a radar 100 times larger than the irst ball a few centimeters below. Do you think thats the bigger issue?
nah the radome dosent let any radar waves through it, and they will just be reflected off from it /s
Having the extra protection and more awareness will be very nice.
im just waiting for al51 (and izd 810) to enter service so it doesn’t feel underpowered
with al41 it just has the same TWR as the su30sm2
which engine exactly?
Izd 177 or Izd 30?
