Doesn’t mean that it’s the ultimate best technology and will always be better. Smerch on MiG-25 provided better results than anything it could face despite using ancient vacuum tubes. Saying that X is better than Y simply because X uses more advanced technology is extremely flawed logic
Like the 4090 vs 5090.
Only jam resistant against garbage old jammers because it ran a stupid amount of power, and the AWG-10 was a better radar set. Even AN/ASG-18 was far superior.
Byelka does not have an extremely high power output to make up for its shortcomings. The more I learn about this radar the more I wonder what they were thinking
me when i only learn from propaganda sources
11kW peak power and ~1500 first gen TRM on a planar slotted array isn’t good
And you took that from the prototype that was shown
Show me the production radar if it’s so different, the prototype is still going be similar to the final radar in these types of things
nice try CIA.
Then i will remind you that a prototype Irbis had only 50% of production version power output, and prototype Zhuk-A on 154 had only 63% of the TRMs of the current version.
If you can’t provide anything better then 11kW and ~1500 TRM it is.
Not even considering that, it’s inherently inferior to other AESA because it is physically incapable of actually good LPI due to its antenna design
Again, show me any unbiased study
Planar slotted array just has significantly worse wideband performance than Vivaldi array, which is one of the main things LPI uses
this was debunked like ages ago bro
input power =! peak output power
Fair enough, then it’s 12-15kW going off TRM count
it does not depend on trm count… 15+ is a fair assumption tho
8-10 watt per TRM is comparable to other AESA radars. 15kW is the upper end
The calculation is
input power * PAE / Duty cycle = max peak power
exactly it is
input power * ((PAE)/(Duty cycle)(1 - 1/gain)) = peak output power
but the (1 -1/gain) term is usually like 0.99 or 0.999 so it doesnt really matter, it just slightly increases the value calculated from before
Doesn’t this only work for other types of radar, AESA is many individual TRM working together, that’s why you see power for each TRM as a relevant number
nope, this is meant for aesa radars only
PAE is the effeciency of a trm itself
this is well as long as all TRMs are identical
Then what would Su-57 peak power be?
something above 15 and below 20
