My honest reaction.
Such a cool piece of tech. I hope we will find out more about it soon. I really wanna know what this thing s capable of.
spinning

it does yeah

I sent these photos as soon as they appeared, but they were without the OKAK logo
P.s they had logo
my bad
Looks like al-51f (izd 30) might be killed off according to George and they’re going with izd 177
Five billion confusing engine names
Which one was the 177?
the new one, it doesn’t have military designation yet. Was tested on Su-57 at the end of last year iirc
Wasn’t that one the flat nozzle AL-51? Or the serrated nozzle one.
Also what’s the output for the 177?
The pointy round one. I think…
No, flat nozzle was shown in 2024 or something like that, and i don’t think that there were any concrete evidence that it was AL-51. 177 was with serrated nozzle and is rated with 16 000 kgf on full afterburner and 11 000 on mil power
It also fits type 99 mounts without any additional work, so it can be installed in pretty much every Flanker airframe outside of Su-35S with minimal efforts
Served on a silver plate

Fair enough, so it’s an upgrade, I thought just the AL-51 had those output numbers.
AL-51 was promised to have 17-18 000 kgf on afterburner iirc. Pretty much performance levels of ye olde AL-41F. But from my understanding 16k is more than enough for Su-57 and ability to install downgraded 177S version (same performance as AL-41F-1S on afterburner but slightly better on mil power) into any Flanker is pretty sweet to ignore this engine in favour of mythical AL-51
(watch MoD giving AL-51 designation to Izd 177)

It remains unclear, hope it doesn’t happen. I will try to get an answer as soon as possible from a Discord server he is active in.
Al-51f delays needs to be studied atp
Its not killed off by any means but supposed to be turned into a 5.5 - 6th gen engines as it cant be used rn due to some issues
As of now maybe some non export variant of izd 177 will do the job
It is really annoying but one thing that can be said is gbag it’s definitely worth the wait. One of the best fighter jet engines in its weight class today it seems.
“Best engine” is kinda subjective due to the different classes
