Sukhoi Su-57 Felon - Technical details, Analysis and Discussion

isn’t it K-30?

Im aware i made a mental jumble.

iam not sure thats why iam asking

There is no doubt they could make at least a few competent seekerheads, but i also doubt whatever testing that could be done with those would be very valid insofar as actual capability against actual missiles, its not just the technology as a baseline that gives it that capability to resist countermeasures. Generally when talking about defeating IIR seekers the discussion shifts to directly destroy the seeker to the point it cannot properly track anymore, that is hardkill defense, that document outright States that the system is equal to western counterparts, later when im home im going to look up those systems to see how to see the how theyre marketed at a surface level.

Im definitely not a person to give russia much leeway but if the any nato country put out this little information and say they made a laser system capable of defeating imaging missiles but the extent of the explanation was “its effective” i would be just as skeptical, and thats despite them having ample experience employing said weapons.

Is that the one theyve restarted? Kizvy mentioned a dual pulse fox 2 from russia recently irrc.

When did I do that, maybe I was talking about dual stage? (Boost-sustain)
Or I was taking about mica-ir

we did metion mica ng a few days ago but i remember it also in context of r-74s maybe i got confused. does it have dual thrust?

They mentioned when they added LDIRCM they were working on fixing it so it’s not immune to an infinite amount of IRs at any given time, only the amount of lasers on the defending vehicle. So in the Su-57s case it would be two at a time.

Could also just be 0. Its not balanced and its dubiously realistic, it would still be good if it can defeat up to aim9m r73 level only, just not broken. Su57 will be good regardless it has a big iwb + r-77-1 and r74m2 will likely be better than the aim120d + 9x block 2

Nah r-74m2 has only an all boost motor

What about the successor? I remember it resembling more something like iris t in shape, you talked about it being maybe restarted as a program irrc.

Im curious. Cause r73 is already pretty good in terms of range, i know its shaped to fit in the iwb of su57, has it undergone a similar drag reduction as the 9x?

Oh yeah, k-30/izd-300
K-30m/izd-300m project restarted back in 2022 (modernized k-30) but og k-30/izd-300 missile died in the 90s

Looks good, is it known if its planned to be tvc?

Og k-30 was tvc yes.
K-30m, who knows. We know nothing about it other than development has been restarted in 2022.

But considering the predecessor was tvc, I would assume it would also be tvc

There’s no doubting it’ll be a good plane, it’s IRCM won’t be the reasoning for that.

Ircm could be the reason it goes from just really good to outright broken especially if its going to be added in the next fox 2 meta.

luque13 will appear here and start a war with all nafo because of kh38.
