Sukhoi Su-57 Felon - Technical details, Analysis and Discussion

hardly evidence though? its a russian diagram, there is no data outside of just claiming its effective, IIR seekers are by virtue of their design resistant to dazzling, there also things employed ontop of the IIR seeker that enhance its capalities, most of every Western IIR missile employs HOJ. an unsubstantiated claim by a country that has been behind on that field for decades is not exactly evidence.
and on top of that the source of that picture

they are planning to fight themselves?

i was replying to this

i meant why would they waste money on LDIRCM if the west uses IIR

ask them, there is no evidence suggesting the effectiveness of LDIRCM against IIR seekers, unless these are literally hard kill systems which is a very dubious proposition, the document from which this

comes from is 5 pages its essentially a pamphlet, and doesnt explaing anything even remotely, just cause something is written on paper it doesnt mean its reputable, russia barely even operates imaging infrared missile as that is a field they fell behind on decades ago, the only missiles i know which are imaging infrared they might operate is 9m100.

Afaik R-74 (izd 740) was never put into production.

But, R-74M and M2, from what I know, only use Dual Band IR, not IIR.

I meant the r74 as a family

That makes sense, I’m just making sure.

Do we have any idea how much more powerfule the new r74m2 motor is?

No, we just know it’s more powerful, and that 74M2 has 10 more KM of range over 74M

and LMUR

Spoiler

Kh-38MT

Very heavy on the MIGHT operate.

I was limiting myself to anti aircraft role, mostly because imagers can be very different, they have IIR seekers in some cruise missiles, but in that role theyre very different and cannot really engage moving targets outside of ships and even then its terminal.

I mean we can say they dont, kh38mt isnt operated by anyone snd the seeker has 20% to fail in ideal conditions and a 40% in a “countermeasures” environment its also not really meant for tank sized target in all likelyhood.

I personally think they don’t.

But there’s that like… 1% possibility that they do.

As I said, that MIGHT part in his statement was doing A LOT of heavy lifting.

It’s ARH

its a 80% success rate
dosent make sense if the missile has a lower fail rate, as you said, when countermeasures are being used

They have tested iir seekerheads in “short range air to air missile” in 2022, so it’s not like they don’t have the tech

what was the project name

K-100?

It may be true but I for me being immune to irs might be a bit of a bad balance decision from my perspective even though su57 only has 42 cm
