Sukhoi Su-57 Felon - Technical details, Analysis and Discussion

Only issue is that ToJ provides a direct vector as opposed to a leading one, so the missile is far less efficient when it comes to guidance and kinematics, making it easier to dodge since it’s not taking the optimal path

i mean it could probably pitbull once it gets close enough right?

VKS no longer wants batches of Su-57s with AL41 engines; we can say that the Su-57 itself would be completely ready if it weren’t for the engines, and I believe that’s why Sukhoi is designing the Su-57M to solve what still needs to be solved.

Yep, but in ranges where ToJ is in effect, it’s being used in favour of datalinking, meaning you can defend it before it gets to pitbull.

Obviously ToJ combined with Datalinking and an offensive position from the launching aircraft will result in a hit, however ToJ itself is less efficient

I assume, which is logical, all 3 arrays will work together. All the targets will be shown together essentially

yes you can focus on particular sectors too, it is known as narrow beam.

also to add, its not 360 degrees coverage, but rather 300 degrees (± 150)

I see you’re still traumatized, seek help, man. KH38 can’t affect you.

i wouldnt be surprised if the aesa can act as a maws, irbis can do it for missiles with TOH =<6 seconds, so byelka should be able to as well

All of the arrays work as MAWS, like on eurofighter.

any specifics? I havent seen anything confirming it for felon, only for su-35

also su-57 might be the only plane with 360 degree irst coverage. pretty cool

how that?

ldircm turret works as irst

me asking this exact question lol

Sadly none i could find, other than trust me bro.

nonetheless its kind of sensible to use your arrays for these function? A missile is a target only.

The 101-KS-O DIRCM turret also doubles as a IRST.

dircm spinning to scan the sky

yeah thats what i was worried of lol. although surely if su-35 irbis can function as maws then surely byelka can as well, hopefully gaijin goes with that line of thinking

That cannot be good for stealth though unless the pilot choses when to activate it?
Like the IRST on the front of the airframe

Great, looks interesting and I’ll be thinking about investing into russian air is Su-57 is all it’s made out to be with the sensor/radar suite

Su-57 also has a proper HMD, mirroring some of the stuff found on the HUD
(seems kinda similar to the EF HMD)

LPI exists. All the arrays scan the sky for targets nonetheless, so it doesnt really matter.

They are placed behind the frontal view, it wouldn’t affect frontal RCS
