and looking at what the US was looking for when they made the f-22 (a replacment for the f-15c) and how the f-22 is designed then it should be clear that WVR wasnt even close to being their first or second priority
F-35 has been used in combat granted against Iran.
Who did or do have Russian air defence systems…
Which creates this delicious paradox…
Can an S-400 see an F-35…
If it can and you shoot one down you announce to the world and you lose the element of surpise in the event of a NATO conflict.
If it can’t well you can say it wasn’t turned on or permission wasn’t given.
Either way we still don’t know and that’s what makes the S-400/500 systems so interesting.
Su-57 has been used and as I said I dont think it’s a bad jet it needs more time to refine and export sales will allow the aircraft to develop further.
Fair I do think missiles now have a high PK that dogfighting like a Su-57 in top gun is unlikely.
I think BVR with EAWACS/Gen 5 DL will be the standard for a long time and that is really the J-20 and Su-57 mission. To hunt down and destroy command and control and tankers.
Don’t forget one thing, little Luque, Mossad posted several videos of sabotage operations inside Iran, and they certainly preferred to hide their other systems.
I am sorry but there is no s400 in iran, and s500 is to destroy icbm for speeds mach 6 +.
The systems that was in iran was some old bukm2 using sarhm and they were destroy before even be in active combat by mossad.
I am not a expert in radars, but some say that s400 system may detect 5 gen fighter, same as china with its quantum radar.
Ending up in the merge is pretty trivial, especially in sim
and then the “dogfight” will devolve into who can point it’s nose first at the enemy to fire a missile at him
And doing exactly that is what basically every Russian airframe has been shown to be able to, pointing its nose wherever
Also a proper gunfight might not happen in a normal match anymore but there are quite substantial dogfighting communities for both rb and sim
You are correct it was the Syrian S-400 operated by Russia the previous times when Israel hit the Iranian nuclear enrichment sites. S-500 is the Radar I believe the TELS can use the S-400/500 variant missiles
have to say “Prometheus” is an amazing name.
Anything from Dubai? Rosoboroneksport mentioned RVV-BD on Su-57 in the video, but they didn’t specified if it can be carried in internal bays or not. Also seems like RVV-MD2 is specifically designed for Su-57 according to that video.
If this is correct then it’s 4+2 in full stealth. A bit less than competition. But I will cope that it is for export version and domestic one has more up its sleeve
It did come from a sukhoi presentation so, chances are they had something like this in mind or proposal that could be possibly done. I think VKS will not go for it but definitely seems doable
VKS still runs Su-57 in very small batch. Probably testing and evaluating for now, especially considering that OAK comes with new bells and whistles for Su-57 almost every few months. I think VKS waits until Su-57 has enough features to last a while in the arsenal until they move to big orders.
