No one wants untested engine, especially engine that was designed completely from scratch. F119 was in development for 13 years iirc, and it is in a country with practically unlimited money. And it might be the very first afterburning jet engine with variable bypass ratio, if rumors are true.

Thats just baby J-20, China grows them domestically instead of manufacturing. I’ve heard it is way more efficient and environmentally friendly.
