Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation) is launching a global marketing campaign for Russia’s new RVV-SDM medium-range air-to-air missile, developed and manufactured by Tactical Missiles Corporation.
The RVV-SDM missile is designed to equip the Su-57E fifth-generation fighter jets produced by UAC, a Rostec subsidiary, and delivered for export. It can also be used on other Russian-made aircraft after their appropriate modifications, and can also be integrated into the armament systems of foreign-made aircraft.
“Rosoboronexport notes a growing interest of the global market in the Su-57E fifth-generation fighter. The aircraft has proved its superiority in actual combat conditions over the most advanced air defense and electronic warfare systems. It has engaged numerous air, ground, and surface targets with Russian air-launched munitions, including the latest RVV-SDM guided missile. The missile has a longer launch range, an increased power-to-weight ratio, higher effectiveness, as well as better aerodynamic performance. Furthermore, it incorporates a passive radar homing channel, providing complete stealth, high guidance accuracy, fire-and-forget effectiveness, and resistance to jamming,” said Rosoboronexport Director General Alexander Mikheev.
The RVV-SDM air-to-air missile is designed to engage aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and UAVs around-the-clock and in an electronic countermeasures (ECM) environment. It is equipped with an active/passive radar seeker, an inertial control system and a radio update link.
The missile can engage targets flying at altitudes from 15 m to 25 km, including at speeds up to Mach 3.
Rosoboronexport is offering its partners the latest RVV-MD2 short-range air-to-air missiles, the RVV-SDM medium-range air-to-air missiles, as well as the RVV-BD long-range missile, which has proven its combat capabilities, for equipping the Su-57E fighter.
In addition, the armament system of the Russian 5th generation fighter in the export version includes Kh-38MLE air-to-surface guided missiles, Kh-69 stealth precision-guided air-launched cruise missiles, Kh-58UShKE anti-radar missiles, Kh-35UE anti-ship missiles, as well as KAB-250LG-E guided aerial bombs and UPAB-1500B-E guided glide bombs.
Air-launched weapons for fifth-generation fighters are designed for carriage both in internal weapons bays, which reduces the radar signature, and on external hardpoints. The Su-57E’s low radar signature gives it an overwhelming tactical advantage over 4+ and 4++ generation fighters, both in air-to-air combat and when engaging ground and surface targets.
The Su-57E fighter is the only 5th generation fighter in the world that, in a stealth configuration (with internal missile carriage), uses large-sized Kh-69 long-range air-to-surface cruise missiles.
“Rosoboronexport is ready to negotiate contracts with countries friendly to Russia for the supply of both the Su-57E fighter and the air-launched weapons designed for it. In its export activities, the Company prioritizes the needs of the Russian Armed Forces for weapons and military equipment. Which is funny because this is usually a good Su-57 angle.

Would honestly love to see the Su-57 added too, but I think it’d play out pretty differently from what people picture. The public RCS estimates/sims (Stealthflanker’s work, APA’s assessment, the Aircraft101 sims) generally put its frontal RCS around F-35 territory only when the IRST is stowed — otherwise it opens back up. So realistically modeled, it’d be facing planes that see it before it sees them a good chunk of the time.
The bigger issue isn’t really the jet, it’s what it forces onto the rest of the tree. Russia getting Su-57 basically means NATO gets F-22/F-35 across the board, and since the US, UK, and Italy would all be flying some F-35 variant, you’d end up with a lot of F-35-mirror matches unless matchmaking gets a real overhaul. And that’s before you get into whether current map sizes (128km) and missile-spam-at-spawn top tier even survives real BVR stealth combat.
Curious how people think matchmaking would even work here — hard faction locks? Bigger maps? Or does gen-5 just need its own separate mode entirely?

That is if you don’t consider capabilities of Su-57 avionics. Russia invested heavily into stealth detection systems, so it is not guaranteed that NATO will have an upper hand in terms of detection. Getting a first strike - probably yes, but in War Thunder reality it is meaningless because notching is quite easy to perform. On top of that Su-57 might be the only 5th generation aircraft with gimballed AESA radar which would give it better overall awareness. It also features LDIRCM turrets, and if this mechanic will remain unchanged it will make Su-57 pretty much invincible against any Fox-2 missile. Overall I can’t say that Su-57 will struggle, and it might very well be Rafale levels of overpowered (back when AESA Eurobombers and Su-30SM2 didn’t exist).

I think due to the prevalence of mcm and with the easiness of munition detection many people will also be running external hardpoints on their stealth fighters and treating them like planes of the previous generation with better flight characteristics(in some ways like acceleration max speed etc etc), In my opinion there’s still too many question marks like the implementation of ecm, newer gen ir missiles, longer ranged aams and better active radar seekers(?) and the aforementioned current implementation of dircm that I can’t be sure how it’ll go for any 5th gen or the future of many current jets in wt.
Stealthiness may be more desirable in the novel nuclear escalation game mode which will soon be permanently released, though. But I think su-57 in wt may have a higher chance of getting detected with firing solution earlier than other 5th gens

If the modern features on 4.5 gen gets implemented then part of stealth would be mitigated. Planes using info from each other radars to find and track targets and so on, we already have aircraft (and ground units as well) in the game that should be capable of it, but I’m pretty sure it would render notching impossible and therefore is a feature on hold.
