current version - technical failure, it was a training flight, aircraft didn’t carry weapons. We’ll have to wait more until a proper answer will be given, if any.
Ooof, that’s a shame. I figured it would be either that or drones.
Is the pilot okay?
most likely dual engine failure, training pilot ejected, but his condition isnt the best.
(according to george)
what are the chances of that?
pretty low, unless the fuel is contaminated…
Well, I hope he recovers well and with haste.
And hopefully this issue gets resolved.
or engines arent AL-41s
If the engines were both new ones and both were lost like this… that sucks ngl
Especially since the felon equipped with new engines is taking a while.
idk bout that
Don’t think too negatively.
All military hardware goes through issues at the start, especially super modern jets. Even F-22 and (especially) F-35.
Plus, if they can track down and most importantly fix whatever led to the crash, well… that’s a good thing.
after a single engie test there is always a twin engine test, but we’ll have to wait to know for sure
Two names (China & Pakistan) <— Air defense network that surprised the USA.
China has been going ham on aircraft network teaming as it allows flexibility and can bring other cards to play in theory. Trainers can become back line missile trucks that are slaved to front line aircraft pilot just needs to keep the trainer in the air. These could be replaced with loyal wingman one day and be very aggressive China is investing a lot into these as well they see them as there ace against American stealth planes.
FYI China wont sell them there J-11 or J-15 or 16 as there is agreement with Russia not to export Su clones unless Russia believes for a reason or another its needed for strategic gain. China might sell J-20 as there was a whole model plane incident J-35 is totally and most likely out of all of them. J-20 might be less valuable with J-50 on the way but who knows its all speculation. Su-57 needs exports to work otherwise Russia cannot afford the program so I would gamble on buying Su-57 due to the financial demands of the program. We come back in 10 years to see who is right.
They could also buy Su-30 and get Chinese upgrades sort of like what they did or tried to do with F-14 tomcat, Phantom (anti-ship missiles) and more usefully from reports to there freedom fighter. Once network is built then I could see them buy su-57 and or J-35.
You think China would want to buy the Su-57? Would there be any tech in the Su-57 worth buying a squadron to get access to? The only one would be the engine but Chinese engine tech has improved and what there might be could be got though tech trade.
From a interview China got the Su-35 because they saw value in PESA radar and its nice to have features. Engine tech was there but also mostly as a bench mark for domestic aircraft.
So I guess China would only buy a few Su-57s if they see something really valuable in her. The risk being people think the J-20 is weak sauce and China does not trust them. Some times military purchases are also due to currency so there is also that factor.
one word.
Radar.
they want to take the lead to the us plane in radar. china cannot buy the captor radar or get intel from allied country who operate eurofighters.
china are still seeking the high angle scan zone radar. su35 does not count as its pesa not aesa.
but china are alreay half way there, i am not 100% sure, they already showcased a radar for the j10C that follow the path as the captor radar. the questio is why is it not in service.
cause High-angle radars are not that necessary, also considering china is literally supplying Russia with AESA components afaik, they arent lacking behind.
you can say that when you have the money to get 2 awacs covering behinde you.
doesnt goes for everyone.
not the aesa module itself.
but the structure. china never done it and i am 100% sure they will seek this tech.
I guess High-Angle radars are a nice to have technology for countries like China who are building out there awacs fleet. China seems to be mixing the best of East with the best of West.
I may be wrong on Russian or Soviet fighter doctrine but they value individual raw capability on one platform then multiple aircraft. My guess Its why they talk about Su-57 being a ballerina of the sky being able to out maneuver other aircraft just in case you get into a dog fight some how. (J-20 does not have cannon to our knowledge so cant be a effective “sky ballerina” in a dog fight)
probably wrong but that’s what I was told on what Russia values also they being so big one big plane with the range is better then 20 small planes that cant patrol. (there is a joke in Canada that the best plane to protect Canada from Russia is Su-30 as we are way to big to patrol)
Saying china has no experience in AESA is delusional. All their modern day radars are AESA, they had afaik 1 singluar PESA radar in service, on the J-10B. There is a reason why most of the SU-57´s AESA radar backend is partly analogue. China mostly skipped PESA for AESA while Russia refined it.
They also have N035 on the Su-35, but I assume you’re mostly referring ot indigenous PESAs, right?
