Are you saying you want separation in a dogfight?
are you saying that you want to shit out all your speed and then being defeceless against anything that come after the fight
and what happens if your missile misses?
depending on the situation yes actually
is izdeliye 117S a variable bypass engine
Only Izd20 was. Maybe the engine after AL-51 will return to that tech.
Also doing some rough calculations taking into account oil weight, ammo, cms, pilot etc etc seems like su-35s would weigh a bit less 20ish tons empty (assuming normal fuel is 50%, and taking values for weapon weight from war thunder ), likely around 19700 -800ish kg empty
Okay looks like it’s 19 tons
The only problem i have with that numbers its that it still use the same gross weight as older Brochure 25300kg. That brochure took the Khibiny pod into that number. You just posted a cutout of it. Heck you can even see that Su-35s on that brochure use 4 missile 2 r-77 and 2 r-73. But the R-73 are not mounted on the wingtips because they prioritize the Khibiny pods. Even on the pick of the loadout the options its to remove the Khibiny for R-73. IMO that its because the Idea was that Khibiny was part of the Aircraft base/Standart ordnance.
These pod are big. So they could easy weight about 150-200kg each.
Edit; This page It’s the only one where i have see a diff Gross Weight. It also said that the Whole L265M10-02 Khibiny-M weight 450kg. Or at least the Export version weight that.
Give me another source that says it’s less than 19000 kg. So far, this is the only source i’ve seen that actually has the empty weight
That its not Official source. That is Piotr Butowski guess. He is very acknowledged in Russian stuff. But there is not official empty weight of the Su-35s. This have being discuss in the part 1 of the thread. Not even in old official web page of the Su-35s they talk about the Empty weight. Take it as how Butowski said Su-57 can Supercruiser at m 1,3 on his book. But there is not oficial statement about that.
Edit; He used the same 19000kg on his Key aero articles. And its 25300-5750(fuel) -550(missile). And pretty sure it was from the same Brochure you posted before.
Yea you’re right. still, I think it’s almost impossible for it to be below 19000 just from some rough calcualtions
18600 its not bad. For me It don’t make sense for Su-35s to be heavy than Su-30sm. And the 30sm in game weight 18830kg.
it makes sense to me that su-35s is heavier than su-30 because of the extra fuel tank + reinforcement for heavier weapons carrige
That extra fuel tank go were the air break was. And usually its empty. Never hear of it being reinforce for heavier weapons carriage. But I have read it have more pylon certified for 1500kg but i take that as a plus of use more modern materials. Usually the Su-35s is Being describe to be lighter because it’s use more modern materials. Not having Air break or Canards. Being a single seat compare to the two Seat Su-30sm.
I know that the area around the Air break was redesign in the Su-35s. But you need to compare that slight difference over a Su-27. To the whole new frontal part of the Su-30sm. Its not like you can said well it’s just 1 pilot more, that its 90kg. Nop. you need a another seat, Large canopy, Equipament like MFD…etc…etc…
Su-27sm?. Most probably will still be the “Faster” Flanker in game. Even after Su-35s. Maybe only late Chinese flankers will be faster.
It wont Su-35S is faster
it might be heavier but the top speed is mostly depended on the Thrust and drag
and with the Su-35 having significantly more thrust than the Su-27SM it will be faster
Yesterday was checking the TWR on Statshark. And even with optimistic numbers Su-27sm has better TWR. Mostly because Su-27sm its lighter than the 18000-19000 kg of the su35s.
TWR dosen impact top speed that much
the Mig-25 has a TWR of 0.7
