Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

Well unfortunately gaijin is breaking m scan every other week so there’s not much that can be done there

It’s rough when you already had a poor Radar vs Standard PESA and now everyone has AESA/PESA

It’s so hard to put pressure on that Su-30 and you just end up defending while they furnish you with half their payload of R-77-1 😅

Uhh guys, i think my ER’s having affair…

Yep, it’s kinda buggy and useless right now

Anyone knows if the current heights of the IRBIS scanboxes are accurate? Or if there’s a way to have some taller ones via report.

its just copy paste bars rn. i dont think we have any sources atm. 8-10* vertical scan zones suck tbh.

Well, it’s a balancing decision most likely, considering that you get the most amount of horisontal gimbal.

Yeah to be fair the scan options are pretty similar, at least the really narrow one can scan more area vertically, but still not that much to be fair.

Maybe someone will be able to throw up some reports, but I personally couldn’t find sources that could help.

Also from my findings, apparently R-37M is a single pulse missile.

Pretty much every source says R-37 (base) is dual “mode” (not pulse) which means its a booster-sustainer combo and burn all its fuel at the start.
R-37M has no stated upgrade for a dual pulse motor. Janes does mention a “jettisonable booster” which is never seen, and we all know how reliable janes is anyways.
Talking with the big guys, they also said R-37M is single pulse.

Regarding the range, officially its stated to be 200km with RVV-BD, which seems like the base R-37 missile. But that has already done 300km+ hit in a test.

So from what i think, the 200km range is a unlofted figure, and RVV-BD (and R-37M) can probably do 300km+ shots taking loft in to the equation. But it wont do 400km which janes has mentioned. Plus due to lack of dual pulse its terminal velocity wont be that much in long range shots.

But since its a single pulse, it would be funny seeing the missile go mach 5 at normal altitudes within like 10 seconds lmao

RVV-BD is 200km because of the intenational regulations about export of very long range missiles iirc.

Yeah, but there isnt any mentioned range upgrades for r-37m over r-37, which has 200km range too

R-37 might be not limited kinematically to 200km. It could be battery life, for example. RVV-SD materials often claim that increased battery life is one of the main changes that allowed to increase the range of the missile, similar thing could be fair for R-37 and R-37M

As I said, I believe the 200km figure is likely a unlofted range, since it already has 300km+ hits in tests

that is for the base r-37 not the r-37m
