might be able to when launched from a Mig-31 at high alt and then proceedes to loft into the stratosphere
well considering that modified r-33 (with loft) was able to complete a 200+km launch (120km max range when unlofted) range, then I would not be surprised if r-37 can do 300+ km, with r-37m doing 350+ km.
R73 dogshit useless because this useless missile i lost a match with potential to have 6 kills, eat flare at 400 meters. I have over 5,000 battles on platforms with R73; it used to be good, but now it’s garbage.
or maybe you could have just easily used your cannon to get that kill
why would you expect the missile to hit when you are firing it in side aspect against a guy that is pre flaring

There are simply too many enemies around to engage in a dogfight, but that doesn’t change the fact that the R73 is garbage

It’s still bad; there were missiles coming my way. The best thing to do was eliminate the one as quickly as possible and get out of there. Why would I try to shoot with such a low chance of hitting it? The missile was fired in the interval between the flares. It’s still bad because it missed at less than 700 meters when the seeker was already close enough and more enclosed. Even the R60M would have hit it there

you could have also easily killed the guy here by simply shooting your cannon

there is a thing called minimum engagement distance
ofc the missile will not hit a target HOBS at 700m, when you are supersonic

Yes, I know the minimum distance, but your IRCCM is nonexistent; you’d have to be very careless to die to an R73 or AIM9M.
As someone who has never touched top tier, even I can see you should’ve gone for the gun kill, and your plane even has a ballistic computer for guns so it was literally a free gun kill bruh

The R73’s IRCCM is garbage, it was nerfed a long time ago, the AIM9M has also been nerfed for a while. The issue isn’t whether I used the cannon or not; I have over 5,000 battles on platforms with the R73 and good stats in most of them. I know very well what I’m talking about when I say this thing is a piece of crap; it’s just an R60M with TVC and greater range.
IRCCM values are ok, i think the main issue with the R-73 is that it’s just slow compared to its competitors, Magic 2s and PL-8Bs just accelerate so much faster an closing the gap faster making the IRCCM much more effective
