it can with tvc
The Mirage 2000 could do that in the early 80s, why couldn’t something with TVC and better T/W?
Of course neither do this regularly, it is dangerous no matter what plane you are in.
Well, KRET says that Bars can be outfitted with AESA dish if customer would want so.

now i wonder about how it could be in game lol.
Ig if its an aesa dish, assuming 60 degrees electronic, and the same 30 degree mechanical as bars, it would be 90 degrees. Or maybe even up to ±130 degrees if assuming 60 degree mechanical gimbal similar to irbis and ±70 aesa. Ofc its all speculation, but it is interesting
Ok, i can see the refit for Su-30SM and current SM2 in service. I can somewhat see Su-34 getting them (mechanics said that AL-31F-M1 fits like absolute ass in regular Su-27 engine mounts, so Su-34 probably has different mounts from Su-27SM), but Su-35 and new Su-30SM2 airframes are designed for an engine with larger intake diameter, how are they gonna work around that?
i mean considering that su-30sm2 were stuck with old al-31fp until maybe the latest batch (?), I don’t think its too big of an issue for flankers with bigger intakes
Well, airframes are being made constantly, so if new SM2s got changes since January 2025 (according to the documentary), we will have a substantial amount of airframes with changes by now, just in different stages of completion. But current ones in service with Type 99 mounts should have little to no problems with getting Izd 177 (but most likely will get 177S becasue it is cheaper)
conspiracy mode on what if Su-30SM2 with new eniges was delayed several times because it was not AL-41F-1S that was planned for them, but Izd 177 and MoD just waited untill tests are over?
Lol if we could get a timeline for when! Then it could be bug reported 😂 to give us in warthunder.
Oh well, its nice news they are getting better engines and that is the focus of aircraft corporation
But is new Production jets or even older jets?
177 is fully compatible with Type 99 mounts so nothing stops them from putting this engine on every single Flanker imaginable (apart from Su-35S and maybe Su-34) if they want to
how does it look
After the countless messages I’ve sent here, what could possibly make you think I don’t know that N035 exists?
The one thing I KNOW that doesn’t, is an Su-30SM2 with N035.
This specific version is for helicopters and was tested on Mi-28NM in Syria, looks like this outside
can’t find how display actually looks

If that’s what it looks like nowadays, thank god they changed the design from the original…
i mean, for wt purposes 177s would be the same as al41f1s for afterburning thrust, and slightly better in dry thrust. Though, if for some reason they stick in product 177 instead, that would be a very interesting development indeed
Should also have a bit less IR emission because of serrated nozzle, no? But for WT this will mean very little i think, not at this level of Fox-2 performance
idk if 177 has full all aspect tvc like rd-133 or its stuck with canted tvc like al31fp and al41f1
Most likely canted. The ones on exhibitions were shown with straight nozzles, so most likely didn’t had any sort of TVC installed on them

There is one image that goes around alongside the name of Izd 177

This one looks like KLIVT system that was installed on MiG-29OVT and on Salyut upgrades for AL-31F-M, but obviously no concrete evidence that this is Izd 177 or 177S engine.
All in all, 177 is designed by Saturn, so most probable outcome, as i said, would be canted TVC because it was their go-to design for every single engine before and they had some beef with Salyut over royalties for selling AL-31F engines so i’m not sure that Salyut would just give them their own technology.
