Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

Mind giving me sources for that? Because the only range values given was from a fan made animation, which said it was around 180km, but no sources were backed for that

Rafale crashed down around 80 - 85km from the border, a 200-230km kill means the launcher should’ve been around 130-150km away from the border (value cannot be concrete because the target abviously covered some distance by itself) which doesn’t make sense for a jet such inside the country to engage and get a kill on a target instead of the patrolling aircrafts much near the border

I cant currently find where I had seen the 230km claim I’m remembering, so take it with a grain of salt.

Either way, not really the thread for this.

Are there any updates for AESA on su35s? Or will it even happen?

After testing the Su30 a little more I was really pleased to see that it can regularly get to mach 1.4/5 (1700kmh) at mid alt, and this is with just 1000-ish kgf of thrust total, gives me even more hype for the AL-41’s ngl, which is like at least 1500 kgf more per engine.

So finally it can match J-11B Mach Speed.

I think the Su27sm and J-11B are still faster to get to those speeds, cause they are not overweight, but before this patch the Su30 was definitely struggling more.

Definitely worth the grind then! I’m currently speedrun grinding it to the Su-30 😀

Yeah it’s a nice jet to have for sure, curious to see if they have been cooking something for the next update too.

where are you getting these numbers from ? , india did not officially state any numbers , in fact they did not even claim the loss of a rafale (im not saying none were lost ) . there are 0 hud pics , footage that proves that it was indeed used at such range. even the R-37M pic (160km) shows its engagement range at unknown conditions. if we blindly go by articles then there are quite a few that claim 213km for the r37m , which again has nothing to back up its claims other than “x officials said so”. also the official range of PL-15E is 145km (this could also be a lie to keep the true range classified like u mentioned but i dont think it has been disproved.)

yeah i usually fly at around 16-18k feet in the games i play in the su-30 hitting mach 1.4-1.6 in the games regularly, that small thrust increase was very welcomed addition

The problem with the su35 Is the weight (19 tons)

Not sure how well Will the additional thrust counter the weight, especially when considering that more thrust doesn’t solve the core issue of the flanker Flight model.

I’ve seen sources in this thread saying the weight is between 18400kg or up to 19000, either way, if I’m not mistaken the current EW of the Su30 is of 18800kg, so in the worst case scenario, the Su-35 should be 200kg heavier but with a significant thrust increase.

This will still be the case yea, hopefully they’ll continue to give little tweaks to the Flankers FM’s like they did last update (more elevator authority for Su30).

someone recently posted a source saying its 18,400kg. current su30sm is 18800kg , so su35 will be much better. combined with insane azimuth coverage + tvc it would be pretty good in a dogfight. (u can use r77s as dogfight missile with enough lead).

Even if the weight got up to 19t, so 200kg more than the Su30 we have now, 200kg increase but with more than 3000 kgf of total thrust increase

exactly.

do we have a number on the Su-30SM2 weight?

i dont think so

Just sneak into a russian airbase with a balance and check it yourself obviously

just unlocked this

that was from a misconception. They confused the time to target with target range. as you can see from the image, the time to target was 217s and actual range was like 170ish km
