Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

I like the mig23 but yea its sad br
But i dont know if there is something They could get
Given the su and mig 27er spamers are extremely powerful (maybe there is a Cheap Discount Export version they could get?
Like that mig23 with mig21bis avionics and missiles)

Maybe this
MiG-29 (Product 9.12B) ‘Fulcrum-A’
MiG-29 variant of the 9.12 for non Warsaw Pact countries which included a further downgraded radar and avionics. Delivered to India, Iraq, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, Malaysia, Myanmar and Eritrea

there is su15 / mig21-98 who can use only r73 / mig23-98 with 2 r27r and 2 r73 (or 4 with no r27) / mig25 / a mig29 with only r60m at 12.0 / mig29 with r27r and r60m at 12.3

Su15 has f106 Syndrome the rest sounds good question is if gaijin would add them given they for the most part want to give every plane everything they did use in RL

the mig23-98 did not exist, was only a project

Not even a prototype? Yea then its a no go

sorry i mean it was built and tested but not in service

Finally playing Su-30SM, and I must say, it’s the second aircraft I found fun to play (obviously the 1st would be Rafale, EZ Mode lmao). With its missile loadout, you can pretty much scare off enemy aircraft before launching your second Fox 3, this is my best strategy to defeat Rafale Orbital Strike. The stockgrind is pretty painful though because you’re relying on R-27ER as your BVR Missile. R-77-1 for me is just glorified R-Darter that can go BVR in a straight path, pretty multirole missiles compared to MICA-EM.

Honestly, I really can’t wait for Su-35S to be coming out to War Thunder, Flanker is a pretty fun aircraft! Sad to see Fulcrum becoming obsolete in War Thunder :(

As long you know how to chaff and notching, any aircraft would works, especially the aircraft that have large calibre countermeasures like Flankers.

Yeah the missile count is nice because you can shoot off some of them to limit the early positioning in the match, and you don’t have to worry about halving your loadout :)

I hope that a configuration with 2 extra dipensers will be possible, since theoretically it can have 2 above and under the tail:

It’s the hard counter of Rafale ngl, when I use Rafale, I struggle against Su-30SM that blob their missiles just to defeat me.

I focus down Rafale no matter the plane i am in, just to deny them any way of contributing to the game. Occasional hatemail is also a nice bonus ngl. But surprisingly enough i never struggle against Su-30. The times i die to R-77-1 is usually when i did certified skill issue and put myself out of position and pretty much any other missile would hit me anyways.

Kinda ironic here when I use Su-30SM, I always died by Rafale, in other aircraft, I’m rarely killed by Rafale either due to less Rafale or the Rafales themselves already being killed by other player.

It’s pretty hard when the team full of Rafale (at minimum 6 Rafale), because whenever they hear their MAW Beeping, they instantly going cold. However, forcing them to run from my R-77-1 is so funny, they really used to speeding, they forget their position is in danger when trying to stay high against Su-30SM.

even after buffs Su-30 is pretty easy to force into low energy state by being offencive, and huge missile count ain’t helping poor thing. Still amazing plane but you really need to be careful with your positioning.

Indeed it is, but I know what I do, I like the energy state of Flanker because it’s literally Giant Gripen. Slow, but can reach top speed, but also can bleed its speed fast to kill the angle gating, because fast aircraft also tend to have higher doppler return.

Can’t wait for the Su-35S to be a copypasted Su-27SM with just a different lively and a ton of inaccuracies

If they copy paste the weight as well I’m all for it

Sure, but they will also copu paste thrust values of engines.

Surely they would just increase the thrust number and leave it called “AL-31”

Well, they did DECREASE thrust and left it called AL-31FP for Su-30MK2 so…

Jokes aside, my predictions for it are:

  • 3D model, much like the Su-30 on release, will be a blantant mix of already present flankers, and will most likely require reports to fix it.

  • FM wise, given the weight, it will be a heavy boat like the Su30 but less draggier due to lack of canards(?), so no duel beast.
Acceleration should feel quite good, not delta-canard level, but quite better than the Su-30 (200kg extra weight but with around 3000kgf-ish more thrust).

  • Radar, depending on how they chose to model the angle limitations, could be quite a good one, especially since you theoretically could sit in the notch and guide your missiles.

  • Other general electronics;
-Finally MAW, for more situational awarenss.
-Improved RWR, which from what I saw it covers more angles, pretty nice since Flankers got blindspots (especially when notching).
-Proper HMD for the SIM enjoyers.
-R-77-1’s which on a faster platform will feel even better (hopefully also align its seeker to MICA level).

If I missed some other key feature feel free to tell me.

Spoiler

Yes another KH-38 carrier, but I have no say on GRB, so, whatever.
