It’s not like the r-77-1 is a bad missile for bvr, it’s roughly on par with aim 120a and is only worse than aim-120c5 in terms of range, while having better better time to target than either amraam model.
they can simply add su-57 with 6x external r-77-1 missiles if they don’t want to give it r-77m
su-57 looks like f-35 equivalent (although still better than it for wt, kh38s will carry it for ground and for arb the fm is much better for turning) and then su-57m will be f-22 equivalent, although f-22 will be superior in terms of number of missiles and su-57m would dominate it wvr probably. kinda hilarous how the us made the f-22 in the mid 90s
Looking at the most recent F-35 info. The Su-57 has only 5nmi greater combat range, higher ceiling (but Ive heard some 60,000 or slightly more claims for the F-35), higher top speed, better supercruise, better empty TWR (1.61 vs 1.47), but worse payload and probably harder to maintain due to being twin engine and not as mature
super cruise for su-57 is unknown, that 1.3 mach i’ve seen 0 source, just hearsay. who knows what gaijin will do for that
doesn’t really matter for wt
imo it all depends of whether or not amraams in the future will gain the .3 delay of other fox 3s and gain more fin aoa, if they don’t then su-57 even with a lesser payload will be much more effective than an f-35 for air to air. and the r74m2 is just superior to the 9x blk 2 for wt purposes, all the while the su-57 is immune to ir missiles. air to ground i think 4x kh38mts will just be superior to whatever the us gets, because i think gaijin is unlikely to add super advanced air to ground stuff. do yk how many cms the f-35 gets?
With the TWR difference I pretty firmly believe the Su-57 will have superior supercruise performance.
I mentioned the range difference just because I found it interesting.
The saving grace for the F-35 offensively could be the AIM-120D and 6 AMRAAM rack things. Defensively, there is only 1 confirmed flare/chaff dispenser box but modeling of the towed decoy, Britecloud disposable decoys, modern flares, and maybe even ECM would make it much more viable.
My understanding of it is that the F-35 is much more protected from RF threats but the Su-57 is much more protected against IR ones
