No wasn’t referring to that, was referring to a book page im trying to find which mentions a gripen A was carrying RB71 before it was ready for service. Again more than likely just for testing with an actual payload. Similar book also mentions th enickname for the Gripen being referred to as Sports Gripen
theres always the chance saab added one and its not exactly a long shot as saab want to have everything under the sun integrated onto the plane but as of what we know for certain is that Blue Vixen, the radar SAAB used as the base, has no CW illum and could not guide your bog standard sparrow
RB71B had some guidance stuff changed so they may have added the ability to guide that without a CW illum but thats again just speculation and entirely made up by me (besides the fact RB71 did have guidance stuff changed, thats real)
But skyflash was removed from inventory in 1998 so gripen would have had a whopping 2 years of service with it, if that

Just give us the NG. The NG we should have seen with the introduction of EFT and Rafale. Just slightly peeved.

NG isnt too far fetched if you want to concede it will be before another Gripen C with worse radar but better weaponry (meteor)

NG allows them to fudge things easier to bring it to parity with the BR they want it at. As they’ve stated, the C is as they want it and they don’t plan on modeling different iterations of the C.

loadout wise, the NG is better than the 39E cause, Brimstones, and whatever else that SAAB slapped on it cause marketing. E dosnt have that cause Sweden dosnt operate Brimstones. for example.

But then it depends on the NG as we have NG’s which are more like modified C’s and NG’s that are closer to Gripen E’s as we’ve seen NG’s with the C’s engine and the E’s engine alongside the changed wing design
It could always be worse. They could listen to the rest of the moaning by the playerbase and take more of a hatchet to Gripen. So whilst we have a less than faithful depiction of the Gripen, it could be worse. All they’d have to do is open an ear to the moaning of the players, again.
Still infuriating though.
