Suggestion for the armament on the JAS 39A and JAS 39C

Suggestion for updating the armament on the JAS 39A and JAS 39C now that we get AIM 120C-5

Because right now it feels like you are downgrading yourself if you go from the JA37DI to the JAS 39A.
So my idea is to add AIM-120B to JAS 39A and raise its BR to 13.7 and AIM-120C5 or C-8 to JAS 39C and raise its BR to 14.0.
I, and likley many more are fully willing to let the JAS 39A and JAS 39C get a jump up in BR if this happens.

According to

https://armstransfers.sipri.org/ArmsTransfer/TransferData/transferDetail?entityId=808265
Sweden bought a batch of 53 Aim-120C-5 in 2003, they still recieved the designation Rb99.

Or for a more credible missile: we have the Aim-120C-8 that Sweden bought for Gripen C and E in 2023:

https://armstransfers.sipri.org/ArmsTransfer/TransferData/transferDetail?entityId=822862

So my suggestion is this: add aim-120B/rb99 to JAS39A
and add aim-120C-5/aim-120C-8 to JAS 39C

If anyone got any more sources or opinions they are welcome

No, the Gripens aren’t 14.0 equivalents and C-5 is terrible for them. They should just get them without a BR raise. What should happen is the JAS39A should lose BOL, HMD, and 9M and go to 12.7 or 12.3 if it loses skyflash and be a proper 1995 model and a Danish or Norwegian F16 can take the 13.0 place for air

It will club anything at that br with its current flight performance, so no it should not loose its capabilities and should stay at 13.0

It should be made realistic and not fictional like it is now

the 39A cant use aim-7’s IRL. no Gripens could. it was concidered obsolete before the 39 even went into production. the Gripens radar cant guide it.
plus we do allready have Viggens in that BR.
thats the only thing fictional about it.
if anything both Gripens underpreform compared to IRL.

Yea but point is still stands, JAS39A will club everything at that br.

No different from the F16AJ, we should get more decompression but the Gripen should be made real now that the C is here. The suggestion to make the C as stated in this posted is silly.

in what way? it gets historical loadout. it can fight with 14.0 allready. it gets constantly into fights with them. thing is, with this change it can actually fight them at the same range.

Original Radar for Gripen A was installed with a CW illuminator for guiding, i dont believe they fired any missiles so they could always just add domestic munitions like the RB72 if need be. Again the current Gripens are fake abominations that should be made accurate to irl models.

It should just get the C5 without a BR increase as its not the best 13.7 aircraft, all this does is send the A up in BR and lose sweden their low BR gripen which again should be an early model and not some fake model.it is now.

please. give source for that. cause form what little info exists about that i and more dedicated people than me have reseached: no it did not. cause it was meant to carry aim-120’s from the begining. and aim-120’s make the aim-7 obsolete.

the 39A dosnt belong where it sits now. the Viggen before it has Aim-120’s and is BEFORE it. you downgrade yourself by going from the 37DI to the 39A.

It carried skyflash for testing it never fired them. Again the Gripen wasn’t ready for AMRAAMs at the time so the JA37D took the place to be equipped until the Gripen was ready. Pretty sure Jaden or Timpun have posted it on the forums. Id need to scroll far back to look for them.

then do that. cause i have found no source on that.

Then swap the positions, like with the Strv 103, have the Di go after the D and have the Gripen foldered with the Di then.

no. dosnt solve the problem. the 39A dosnt carry aim-7’s IRL. never did.

Because it cant, probably there as its similar in dimension and weight as amraam but besides that the radar cannot guide the base RB71 (god knows what RB71B is)

Ill say it i was wrong on the illuminator, im seeing one thing saying the A carried RB 71 but nothing that it could fire it. Mayhaps just for testing purpose with an active load. Id like to find a better source as im not sure this site is the most accurate thing.

First things first. They need their centre line bomb pylon

Minor fin change from what ive read but never seen anything else on it, refering to RB71B
