If you have any recommendations or suggestions on how to improve this, please share them in the comments. This is a fairly complex idea that I am having difficulty articulating at the moment.
Disclaimer: The following concept outlines a series of events that would be located under the event tab, utilizing historical matchmaking rather than a permanent change to standard queues. All ideas presented are subject to change, and the examples provided represent only a portion of potential conflicts based on current familiarity.
Vehicle Selection and Balance These events will prioritize historical accuracy by including aircraft, helicopters, and ground forces, with naval assets integrated whenever the map and era permit. Under the “Used-By” rule, vehicles from non-participating nations are eligible for inclusion if they were historically operated by one of the combatant nations during that specific conflict. To ensure fair and competitive gameplay, certain vehicles may also be introduced non-historically for balancing.
Team Structure and Spawn Mechanics Participants will be divided into Blue and Red teams, generally representing NATO/Allied forces and Warsaw Pact/Communist/Axis forces, respectively. To emphasize tactical decision-making, ground forces have to have three spawn points per match. Additionally, all aircraft are required to start their missions from their designated airfields or aircraft carriers, as mid-air spawns will be disabled to preserve the operational realism of the engagement.
Expanded Map Scale The theater of operations will be significantly enlarged to better reflect the scale of real-world military conflicts. Ground combat maps will range from 4x4 miles to 8x8 miles, depending on the time period and map, and the air maps will be expanded to be a maximum of 20x20 mile area, providing ample space for interception and long-range engagement.
