Suggestion: Add Overpressure Effect for Clustered Bomb Drops

Suggestion: Add “Overpressure Effect” for Simultaneous Bomb Detonations

Dear War Thunder Developers,

As a long-time War Thunder player and military enthusiast, I’d like to suggest a feature that reflects real-world explosive physics more accurately.

Currently, when multiple bombs are dropped simultaneously and land in close proximity, the game seems to calculate each explosion individually. However, in real-life scenarios, simultaneous or near-simultaneous detonations at a single point can amplify destructive force due to overlapping shockwaves—a phenomenon often referred to as overpressure stacking.

I propose implementing a mechanic where closely timed and closely placed bomb explosions result in:

Greater damage to armored and hardened targets

Increased blast radius

Amplified shockwave effects

A viable alternative to single heavy bombs (e.g., FAB-5000)

Historically, this concept was demonstrated through weapons like the British Tallboy and Grand Slam, which relied heavily on deep-penetrating shock and overpressure rather than pure explosive mass alone. Adding this mechanic would improve realism and make certain bomb loadouts—like 2×SC2500 on the Ju 288 or 4×SC1800 on the He 177—tactically more competitive.

This change would also enhance gameplay depth and give more strategic value to coordinated bomb drops.

Thank you for your continued work on War Thunder. I hope this suggestion can be considered for future updates.

Sincerely,
A passionate WT player
