However, such functionality seems self-evident, given that the radar could detect ground targets.
The Su-25T and Su-39 had fairly advanced avionics. For example, the Shkval was synchronized with the R-73/R-60 seeker, which allowed the missile’s seeker position to be controlled with a joystick before launch and the targeting position to be seen on the screen.
Besides the ones I mentioned, this feature also doesn’t work on the Hawk 200, Mirage 4000, and Buccaneer. It’s especially funny that the Tornado GR.4 can’t provide radar target designation for its own AGMs.
can su-39 carry r-73 on outermost pylon?
ive seen it on expos, but su-25t manual doesn’t list r-73 for use on outermost pylon. Though, tbf su25t is not the same as su-39
su-25t doesn’t have a radar pod. su-39 is export version of the su-25tm, the tm was a modernized version of the su-25t which gave it a radar and more expanded weaponset
the Locks on hardpoints are almost always identical on all aircraft, FCS and other Avionics are the problem because those have to be able to use what’s hanging on that pylon
