What if they keep it at 13.0 but give it the R27EA? its basically an r27er with ARH seeker. After all the Ja37DI has fox3s at 13.0, so this shouldn’t be a problem. As a comparison, it has a worse airframe but better radar, more countermeasures. At the same time the Su33 has better rwr, better airframe but same radar as su27 and not many CMs. Would be the most balanced option imo. Or just leave it as it is …

4 AIM-120s on a JA37 is not in any way similar to 8 R-27EAs. It’s quite literally better in every way, with twice of them, as well as a better FM with extra R-73s to spare.

the su-33 had the designation su-27k before being called the su-33, Any weapon or modifications for su-27 can be used on su-33. Therefore, it indeed could use the R-77 but just never did

it was literally a su-27 that they modified. it can literally get the same modifications and upgrades the su-27s get. They just didnt
Are you saying that because the su33 is su27 derived, that any mods or upgrades given to the su27 ALSO can go on the Su-33? because thats like saying because the F-86F-40 gets AIM-9Bs and because the AIM-9B launcher can also fit AIM-9Js, that the F-86A-5 at 8.0 now needs AIM-9Js.
All this is to say, if the real life su-33 never received r-77 upgrades then why would it get them in game just because the su27 eventually did?

there was no point for them to do it because their navy was trash at the time so why invest into a navy variant

War Thunder isnt Historically accurate, So the fact the SU-33 could’ve at some point gotten these missiles doesn’t mean they can’t give them to them in game to balance. Should they get them is not for me or you to decide but just because they didn’t get IRL them doesn’t mean they COULDNT get them if they kept working on the project. This game is about having fun and not being 100% Historically accurate. Why would it be such and issue for them to have them at 13.0? Why are you so against it other than “ThEy NeVeR gOt ThEm IrL”
Why is this not reason enough? maybe I’m for accurate representation AND decompression rather than making this compressed ass game worse by suggesting they fakeify every plane?

By your logic E-100 shouldnt be in game and neither the prototypes since the never saw service

I never said anything about seeing service as a requirement. I am not even against modifying for balance, but only if it actually makes sense and is something that would realistically work. The Su-33 was never given this ability at all so it makes no sense to give it.
And this is my point of talking to a brick wall, it COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE ability to use R-77s but they didnt because they didnt need to work on a navy variant with hardly any navy to begin with. Its not a far out possibility. You make it sound like it was physically impossible when it was in fact very possible. More possible than the E-100 being built
