I can deal with reasonable SARHs, but for some reason certain SARH missiles are unreasonably hard to notch, while also being impossible to roll unlike the SARHs used on most NATO aircraft
The community’s base level understanding of radar mechanics has substantially improved over the 2 years since the AIM-120 was added. Multipathing wasn’t even a well known feature back in the days of SARH missile combat, and people still argued that “the AIM-7 is bugged and acts like an AMRAAM” when they’d die to a sparrow guiding off oversplash. You’re comparing apples to oranges in terms of environment.
The TTI difference between the AIM-120C-5 and R-77 (1.8s) is substantially smaller than that between an R-27ER and AIM-7M (3.8/4.3s). Difference in impact velocity are closer (M0.51 vs M0.39/M0.3).
7M vs 27ER was also at a time where the MiG-29 had an HMD, while the F-14/16 did not, and the R-27ER pulls 35G vs the AIM-7M’s 25G, AND the 27ER has datalink while the 7M does not.
You have no clue what you’re talking about, and worse, you didnt even bother checking to see if what you said had any merit.
The SU-30MK2 is such a downgrade from the SU-30SM (I know it’s behind a couple iterations actually) only used to lure in wallet warriors. It doesn’t have the floppy engines, it has a downgraded radar (the same as the SU-27SM), and all it’s missiles are export variants that suck compared to the originals. Which in the case of the ARH one, is especially bad because the R-77 is already not competitive with AIM120’s. The maneuverability seems like an SU-27 if it was as heavy as the Mig-23M. I love seeing Venezuelan players on the enemy team because they think it’s a real missile bus and skyline with it and then their radar doesn’t get lock and they eat a R-27ER.
r-77 looks like it should have a max range of 100km though if it wasn’t limited by battery. kinda similar to how aim 120a has a max range of 125 km at perfect launch parameters irl.
Well it doesn’t matter because r-77 has horrendous drag because of grid fins (and from what I’ve read, it seems that grid fins are actually surprisingly draggy (but they enable insane maneuverability characteristics, I can’t think of another arh missile not even mica that can have 45 degrees of aoa, even more than r-73))
the one i literally just got, with 4 matches in, at least one of them ending early bc i still had the counter measure selection from my last session on instead of all and therefore didnt manage to chaff a missile?
After your logic I should also find the luchs light tank insanely good bc i got a nuke in it once.
hes literally right though, in 99% of cases you are not going to be using datalink on r77s, and if you are its probably against a single target, the main advantage of r77 is how good it is <10 kms in a notch.
hardly mid, theyre equal in range to aim120a, and have very good maneuverabilty, better than pl12s imo, pulls less yes but it pulls alot and outranges pl12s + ive heard it kills more consistently because of bigger explosive
If you aren’t taking advantage of the ~85° gimbal then that’s on you, pitbull can do the job but DL is far more effective against an enemy with a brain
