Su-30MK, Su-27SM and Mig-29SMT all have radars that are perfectly capable of datalinking while in the notch, however the J-11A doesn’t because it’s flat out worse.

mig 29 is the only one where i find it anywhere near consistent. su27sm tws straight up doesnt keep track of anything in most cases let alone at max gimbal

Update rate on N001 TWS is really bad and you can’t even change scan area to help it in any way. If you are desperate for DL in a 1v1 just hard lock the guy
my point, i never found myself needing to datalink multiple r77s, they excell at ranges where thats hardly ever a concern

I agree with you, just added a bit more context. If J-11A had something like AMRAAM or PL-12 - I would consider 1 DL channel to be an actual downside. But with R-77 it’s pretty much meaningless.

Nope, MK has VEP, it gets slightly more lock range in HDN and additional DL channel

Difference is very minor tbf, extra lock range it beyond 80km and you aren’t firing anything that far.

That is an opportunity to learn wasted, then, as has become evident.
I sure do love having a missile turning worse than r77 and yet having same level of energy retention on maneuvering targets. Sure it is better than 120 and thus more meta, no arguments there, and even more so in TSS circles.

Tbh my little experience with derby is just weird, it doesn’t seem to pull very well, it’s very slow, and it always cries and it has lacking range

To begin with, expecting much from the MKK Classic Flanker series, including the MK2, is misguided since they’re essentially downgraded versions of the SM and others. Besides, plenty of players are achieving great results using this BR aircraft with its current performance. It’s definitely not weak across the board.
It’s literally the best 13.3 plane in the game
while having a CAS loadout superior to the Su-27SM (which sits at 12.7 grb) at 12.3
