While this may be true, the R-37M should still be able to target fighters at a very considerable distance. This weapon also holds the world record now for the longest range kill on a fighter.

these claims all seem conflicting and questionable, personally I’m more inclined to believe the initial report an S-300 was responsible if the shootdown even happened at all
in fact one of your sources doesn’t cite the R-37M at all, it says it was an S-300V4 was responsible, while the only source claiming an R-37M is Indian news, meaning the claim of this missile achieving the longest air to air kill is almost certainly fabricated

Someone managed to capture the weapon flying through the air before it impacted a fighter, I’ll have to see if I can find the image
you say this yet one of your sources in your own post attributes the downing to an S-300V4 and not an R-37M
to me it’s clear that the R-37M being responsible is a fabricated claim from later on to hype up a “wunderwaffe” by Indian news media

Even if it was, there’s still evidence of these weapons being used, it’s not all impossible that it was responsible.

If that’s the case. Then this is a bit of a 1 sided claim. We dont know if meteor would completely out range and out class R-37M. But I suspect it would.
The suspect the meteor would have the maneuverability but not the range, that’s what most people seem to believe.
