Stop. Removing. Sniper. Positions. From. Long. Range. Maps

Except the data is separated? Gaijin’s already communicated this before.

We don’t know the position of all players at all times. We are provided with data relevant to our client.

Since those who enjoy long range combat are forced to CQB i´d advocate for a complete removal of breach and barrel damage to make CQB CSGO maps more immersive. This is especially to keep the E-sport spirit alive since you cant disarm someone with an AWP with a pistol or taser in CSGO. (The latter part is sarcasm indeed).

You can still snipe in game… but chances are you will not be camping there for very long

Dies in the tank known as the archer

Sniping is fine, just make ways to counter it lol

Literally what you call ‘camping’ lmao

That is an Ambush, completely different thing

  • On sniping position
  • waits for a non-prudent enemy to wander out into his sight
  • fires
  • therefore:

“He who is prudent and lies in wait for an enemy who is not, will be victorious.”

On which map? The non-existent ones we don’t have?

Ah yes, “sniping” on abandoned factory, abandoned town, american desert, cargo port, japan, middle east, normandy, port novo, seversk, sun city or sweden. These are just the maps that completely remove the option to snipe. Most of the remaining maps have either been reworked to discourage sniping or never provided a good option for it in the first place. Only a handful of maps actually promote it. Volokolamsk, sands of tunisia (the big version), sands of sinai, red desert, pradesh, kursk and fulda are the only maps I concider to be true long range maps. Why I can’t simply be allowed to queue for only the maps I like is beyond me. War Thunder already has some of the shortest queue times among other games, so adding a minute or two so that I can have a better experience would 100% be worth it to me.

So why have vehicles on the game that are made to do that? 88flak? Yag etc ?

In the glory days of the game the player had a choice of how they wanted to play and the tool they might use from the many available.

I got most of my kills that way early on with those vehicles and it was a lifeline as a newbie, but those options are gone, and those vehicles mostly useless and redundant now.

You ask us to play the game and stay in the game then you punish us for getting good at the game when we finally do.

Map knowledge and developing a few tricks for survival are a punishable crime on War Thunder now. Get good with CAS they nerf CAS, get good with an SP, then remove the sniping spots, develop map knowledge then they change the maps and so it goes on.

I find a good sniping space then the devs mission is to make sure its gone next game.

I just wonder what Gaijin want us to do in this game now, do you want us to stay forever as a suffering newbie or are we allowed to get good and punish others as we were punished when we started.

The game feels like an eternal apprenticeship, no wonder the numbers are down, and the veterans are losing interest.

Something I’ve noticed is that lots of people think sniping=camping. People don’t see sniping as a tactical choice, but rather a way to get easy kills on tanks that jus spawned in, who can’t see you. This is definitely part of the reason why maps are changing.

However, sniping often leads to spawncamping due to poor map design. This is Gaijins fault.

Some of the map changes are genuinely good, and players can’t see anything outside of “too good spot removed=map ruined.” Most of the changes actually made maps better, the best examples are Sands of Sinai, and Mozodok. You can actually play the objective on Sinai and have support from your team, where previously they would just camp on the hill. Mozodok is more controversial, but it removed a fairly op spot, and opened up some great flanking routes that add more depth to the gameplay.

But thats the point. Now you cannot play the objective, you can only rush towards the objective and hope for the best.

Cap points exist only as game mechanic so game doesn’t turn into death match. While in reality its all about terrain control. If you want to capture and hold objective you need to control terrain which can prevent opponent of reaching it.

Before Sands of Sinai was shrunk there were more battles going on. Battle for terrain around objectives and battle for vantage point (hill). Now its all about middle of the map furball.

There was maybe 3. Many players just camped on the hill and didn’t try to play the objective. You can still prevent people from getting to the objective if you use your brain.

You can still play the objective. You can now easily flank along the desert side to get to the cap without having to worry as much about a tank hiding behind a rock on the other side of the map.

The map was made better, and players don’t see that. All they see is that it was made smaller, which they assume is worse. It added more depth to the gameplay because you are now forced to actually do stuff.

We can only agree to disagree. For me map is much worse this way. Game forcing you into engagement is not fun for me. Had much more fun before with more freedom.

Add stop red-zoning maps… this idiocy has to stop it ruined so many maps its beyond belief someone think its fun… almost like wot corridor map makers came here…
That brings 0 to map knowledge 0 to any tactics and 0 to fun…
In good old days we actually have to learn maps to be good now you just press W

Indeed. As a general rule, if a good ambush position is also a good power position, that’s bad map design.

They remove the only version of this map where you can snipe.

Removal of snining spots is not the only issue, they remove a lot of maps and in the last 4 years they dont stop adding the same trash flat urban maze style. Right now practically the map variation is gone just urban fights after urban fights.

They removed one of the single most hated map/objective combos in the entire game, trying to spin that as a negative just looks silly.

Most hated ??? in every poll about maps the most hated and disliked maps were stupid small urban maps like American Desert, Campania or Sweden.
But dont worry now you can play “much better” maps LOL.
