this is a catalogue of you making very bad shots in the f5c
this is the only time in the first clip your gun is on target and this tiny fragment is what leads to the ricochet shot, but that was probably a desync and didnt even hit:
its hard to see because of the G overload but this is right before the hit on that mig21 before the bullet that hits has been fired:
but like youre in a terrible position to do any real damage to that guy im not surprised at all you only got a hit.
this is just standard of umm whats it called, oh right, missing:
like tracers on either side of the guy but even with the tracerless round between them it still wasnt in a place to hit.
and idk why you even included this one, its just you very clearly missing shots on the bucc, too tangential shot wasnt gonna happen unless you started pulling for it far sooner:
and this one is a similar story where you just dont keep your guns on target long enough, circled in red is a round that reaches the a10 around when you get the hit
and basically immediately after that round hits youre way off target (not that you were really on target before)
and into a tree lol
and then the mig21 clips:
very easy rear aspect shot into the engines, enemy is not really maneuvering at all:
honestly this one is just rather a lucky shot, but still rear aspect straight into the engines:
this one is just a good head on shot where multiple rounds go right into the leading edge of the wing:
ultimately the problem with all these clips is that all but one (the buccaneer one shown) of the mig21 clips are headon or rear aspect (the easiest type of shot to hit and do big damage on, and all but one of the f5 clips are side aspect where you just hit once and go through the enemy wings, you dont pull hard enough while on these shots to keep the target actually in your firing line
the quality of you firing between the f5c clips and the mig21 clips is pretty astounding

Yet another average andie ignoring the points i made about gsh23l mogging m39s with a single shell per target being enough to kill it. The majority of things that aren’t a phantom can easily outdogfight the f-5c outside the strict mach 0.9 two circle rate at sea level.
These are the only shots I was able to get for these people can extend or outdogfight me at any time. And yes, rear aspect shots are the least likely to do damage as they face less surface to damage.
(sorry tornado enjoyers is been pretty horrifically powercrept these days)
consistency is key
also bro you literally use default belts in the f5c, idk maybe use the air targets one? the one for shooting planes with? to shoot planes with?
i have multiple problems with that,
theyre the least likely to hit the target if the target is maneuvering
if they hit theyre the most likely to deal damage when youre fighting jets because the thing you can hit is the engine
only in one of those examples is the enemy maneuvering while youre rear aspect to them and all but one of the f5c shots are side aspect/tangential
in my experience people who zoom (like me and you) when firing tend to not pull enough to keep up with the enemy when shooting against
my suspicion is that you need to get a bigger screen or glasses so that you dont zoom in and can be better and leading and maintaining your shots on enemies while in tangential/sideaspect shots
Engines and tails are some of the most critical parts of the aircraft you can actually damage (which in the F-5. will be at the rear of every aircraft you will actually face), even if you dont bring down the aircraft, a hit in these places can turn even the best fighter into a relatively simple kill for even the worse.
also bro you literally use default belts in the f5c, idk maybe use the air targets one? the one for shooting planes with? to shoot planes with?
I use default because everyone uses default. Air targets are impacted by realshatter while also going slower and having more drag. Tried them every time they patched m39 rounds and they’ve been consistently the worst ones.
you know its the specific rounds in the belts that are on realshatter or not and not the belt itself that determines that right? also its on basically every single gun and low calibre ammo in the game now and has been for a while
if im shooting planes or open top ground targets you want as much HE as you can get with current damage models (though with the changes to bombers and more widespread detailed damage models, that might change), ap is only good for going through planes and damaging components like engines, though if you have a belt with APHE its chill
theyre basically the same, the only difference is slightly more HE shells
if you are worried about realshatter then you should just run Armoured Targets for pure AP. Though ive not had issues with it in a long time
All other belts should have the same velocity, the M39A2 only has 3 rounds, and most belts have HEF-I as the first round. Belts inherrit ballistics from the first round and not on a round to round basis like it should. Most of the belts though are jsut differing combos of them, so I dont see how default would be radically different ballistically to the others.
Air targets or Stealth look the best based upon the high levels of HEF which would be my default for most guns.
you know its the specific rounds in the belts that are on realshatter or not and not the belt itself that determines that right?
Exactly, and it affects HEF rounds, which is the majority of the components of the air target belt. I literally tried it right now and all I got was a hit so fragless it didn’t even grant me a kill assist. Then I died to a J7D 1.5km away after trying to flare it’s pl5.
theyre basically the same, the only difference is slightly more HE shells
So in all, just shittier than ever, thanks for proving my point. I’m sticking to default.
yes i try to run armored targets but running default because that tiny HE shell might help me deal with ground targets better, cause for some weird reason explosive ammo works better on studebakers than on aircraft.
Then by that logic, universal would still be better for you, because rather than being 1:1 ratio of HEF to AP, it would instead be 1:2 ratio of HEF to AP.
i mean, id rather use more HE than AP/API/APIT because API especially on those side aspect shots does basically nothing as it doesnt fragment at all and sure AP is great for front and rear aspect shots since it goes through the plane but HE does plenty enough on that as well
for me its like this
HE shells:
good side aspect if hitting wings and fuselage
good front and rear aspect to damage engine and pilot and fuselage
AP shells:
good front and rear aspect to damage engine and pilot
