Well, theoretically, the PL-5B gives a shorter window of opportunity to flare it than other missiles of the BR. since it is fast like a railgun.

They recommend it because it’s a fantastic grinder and people are still dumb enough to engage. Also partnerships. People recommending the F-5C in big 26 is like sony ambassadors recommending the outdated A7 mark 4 in the big 26 when any Nikon of the same release date whoops it clean. The J7D is better than the F-5C, and the f-5c is overrated. Period.

I agree as far as the J-7D is FAR easier to do well in and could probably stand to be 11.0 again, it really shouldn’t be seeing flareless planes with it’s missile kit (but decompression would be better).
I don’t agree that the F-5C is “bad” it has some issues caused but the aforementioned compression and takes more skill to use.
i say the f-5c is overrated, not a terrible plane. I’d rather be punished flying the f-5c than the tornadoes. But MiG21s to F-5s, the mig21s are more meta than f-5s, cause they’re faster, have the power to disengage at will and have enough nose authority and ammo damage to quickly scope on a dude, click once and disengage instead of having to loop or turn over and over looking for people low on energy while being unable to go mach 0.9 plus just to eat the dust or wait to survive the last 1v1 standing where the f5 is actually good at.

Genuinely, if its bad or overrated, why is it to this day still recommended over something like say F-4S? Because its genuinely good at what it does at its BR, has a good overall kit and is useful to teach players how to play a jet dogfighter.
Sure. There are more “meta” 10.7s out there like the blatantly undertiered J-7D (not an excuse to move any F-5 down). This does not invalidate the F-5C. Just like how blatantly overpowered MKKs does not invalidate the premium hornets.

I have won against f-5s with ease even in the su25 once again, it’s only a good dogfighter if you play it’s flat turn tailchase games. Other than that, it’s a rather average plane. Also I’d recommend you to play the f-5c or the f-5a if you can (same aircraft same issues) instead of something that is 90 percent f-5e at the same BR as the f-5c then talk to me later. You’re playing the best f-5 that the game has seen and completely disregarded me for not playing the j8, now I can disregard you for not playing the f-5 freedom fighters with g91y engines and aim9e’s.
If it cannot go Mach 0.9 plus, then how in the world that F-5C called ‘supersonic’?

So like 90% of the jets you face at this br bar like an MLD, an F-4 or a MiG-25? Shit like drakens might be “faster” than an F-5 but all you have to do is cut him off and force a dogfight and he literally can’t run at all. I’ve literally killed drakens in skyhawks. Literally the 101 of fighting someone that can outrun you is just cut him off.
Cause at very high altitude it can go supersonic. MiG19s are in the same train of doodoo, but they’re actually good dogfighters and have actually good guns.
Yeah, that is a serious issue, the F-5s do often require an extended dogfight to gain a gunshot, which is less then ideal with the spotting system marking you to everybody on the map and the tendency of WT players to just dog pile on the nearest red name… I was RTBing in my Strikemaster recently and watched 5 people dive from ~4000m+ down to ground level onto a single AD-4 that already had 3 people shooting it…
