There is a huge missing part of combat missing from war thunder. There are no other radar apart from equiped on offensive weapons. Up to 10 total bases on maps and not one ground bases radar, no early warning systems. Radar was widely used in world war 2 and very successfully in the defense of britain. I find no reason not to be able to identify enemy targets on the friendly side of the map. If “multipathing” and “base camping” cannot be rectified, please give us the ability to know about enemys over allied airspace.
We might get proper SEAD gameplay at some point
I’m pretty sure they said they are working on anti-radiation missiles right now, they might even come out this year
Guys I don’t think SEAD or anti-radiation missiles are the point Neo Django@live was making. The point is that there is no way to have even a mild general awarness that EWR could provide. I agree on that, especially in BRs where missiles are presents. This actually is a general issue that EC is lacking as it always feel like you are just alone and on your own. If i can be allowed to make a comparison with DCS, flying alone cna be challenging, but still you have the possibility of a general situational awareness, while on WT you just have to constatly mark things on the maps and wait if people on your team is well educated enough to reply if what you saw is actually one of them or not. I guess some EAW system could be worked out and, most importantly, tweaked in order to not destroy completely the challenge of searching for enemies or hiding from them. Sure enough having a system like that would be fantastic if it could be associated to a physical object in the map, like a radar station (or more then one) that can be detroyed, therefore making the team who lost it more “blind”. Anti Radiation missiles can come later then that, but they will be quite useless unless medium to long range SAM systems will be implemented in EC with their proper functionality.
I was thinking it would be good if they combined an air defense radar to the tower, or the repair module at the airfield. The tower provides a designation of enemies on the map within a 2x2 grid coverage. Knock out the module, lose the radar. Would be great if it linked to data link, but that would be best of best scenarios.
