It’s a good thing there are a lot of slow, unwieldy coastal vessels from other countries that get to fight it and have way worse performance at both long and short ranges!!
Most of which don’t get ASW launchers/have theirs modeled like the SKR-7 just happens to.
If you were paying attention, coastal is what I was talking about in my original comment. Nowhere did I mention bluewater vessels, only that coastal aviso Amiens should be moved up but not face the (also coastal) monsters it currently does.
Undeniably, in the current state of Naval, mixing bluewater and coastal vessels is an exercise in sadism. There is no reason we should have to be fighting Bagleys, Ryanys, or Impetuosos in PT-boats and PGMs in the maps and modes and mechanics we have available to us, having coastal cap points swamped within 30s by destroyers that coastal vessels can’t get close enough to deal with. I’m not opposed to the mixing of bluewater and coastal altogether, but there needs to be a lot of work done to either encourage more coordinated play, more balanced maps and mechanics, or (most preferably) both. Personally, I’m most in favor of more historical map sizes/shapes and convoy distributions and mechanics, and game modes that can accommodate such matchups, but that’s just me.
I feel extreme sorrow at the neglect that Naval has seen in comparison to the ground or air trees, but I do understand that it has radically different needs compared to the other trees, seeing as how radically different a design philosophy that navies have compared to ground or air forces, and the demands that can put on a dev team trying to accommodate all three under the pressures of shareholders to maximize short-term returns.
They really do need to make the most use of those separate aircraft BRs and expand naval to 20.0, then return to the way it was beforehand- coastal and bluewater only interacting at the very end of coastal and very beginning of bluewater.
It’d give them a lot more space to decompress, and likely let them make coastal progression less painful whenever they decide to give them rank VI and up vehicles.
I commented “no” and “other” respectively, here are my explanations:
No, it’s not balanced. Everybody knows this. The primary offender is how useless Coastal vessels are in their BRs against “equivalent” bluewater vessels, and the disproportionate RP required to unlock/modify the coastal vessels that have so little utility. I would say that early coastal and most of bluewater are relatively balanced within their own categories, however.
That’s why I responded “other” to the second question: because there are parts of naval that are perfectly playable as-is. I really enjoy the game mode, I wouldn’t play the game at all if I didn’t. But a rework to Naval would benefit the entire mode immensely.
Gaijin should look to the Nuclear Escalation game mode trailed recently for inspiration: Many objectives and targets throughout a large map to engage with in different ways, and an increasing spawn point system that allows players to gradually bring out more powerful vessels as the match goes on (yes this is already present in Naval EC but the large amount of secondary objectives aren’t).
In fact, I think a Nuclear Escalation -type mode would fit and benefit Naval even more than it did Air, simply because of the design philosophy of navies as a whole
It’s really not very good in EC, just ensures that if you get lucky and get an early kill or two you can just trounce over all the smaller vessels in a cruiser until you have enough to do the same with a battleship (the top-tier ones are especially horrid, Yamato/Bismarck/Iowa/Sovetsky were mistakes.)
i dont know why they didnt add south dakota first and make that 8.7 as it has 7.28KD right now at 8.3 with similar armor to IOWA and just worse can gun can easily 1v1 yamato
To be honest, I’m surprised they have all the big battleships including Sovetsky which was only laid down… And yet, South Dakota (BB-49, 1920) still hasn’t been added despite being laid down, and neither has the Lexington-class battlecruiser configuration which was also laid down.
It would seem only Japan, Germany, and Russia get project battleships…
yeah german 6.0 BBs probably should not have been added as they have basically cruiser pen making them impossible to balance as if they go up they fight more things they cant pen they like 60mm more pen then a 8 inch gun on the eugen
