So far today I have died twice to planes that remained unspotted anywhere from 1km to 0.1 km behind my aircraft and I have an ace crew so why are they unspotted?!?!? Also why don’t they make any sound including their missiles when they are unspotted!?!? Anyone else dealing with this issue and how do I stop it?

Delayed spotting is usually an issue of certain weather conditions - low sun, dusk & dawn and clouds (real tricky are additional thin cloud layers) have a massive impact on spotting ranges.
-
I recommend watching the replays of your two matches in which you were killed and watch the attacks on your from the (pilot) perspective of your attackers. So you can see how they were able to sneak up on you - by switching to your aircraft you can actually watch at which exact distance your markers were activated.
-
I watch quite often my replays and see that even in real bad weather the markers are triggered at around 0,2- 0,6 km. If i am lucky i am able to attack in such weather from the blind spot direct above (almost nobody looks direct above) - whilst my target gets a marker from a lower flying friendly.

As i fly props only i can nothing add regarding quiet missiles and aircraft, but at Prop BRs cutting off your engine kills not only contrails, it kills also your engine sound…
I have been having issues with the spotting system even in clear skies. They can be 1km or less and not be spotted with my ace crew and won’t make any sound as well resulting in my death. I look behind me and there is nothing then according to gaijin I get killed from behind
That sounds strange.
As there are some very smart people active in this forum you might consider sharing a replay link to such a “stealth” kill in order to get a fresh view on your issue.
Some guys of the Sim community are posting (mostly deleted by mods) from time to time similar suspicious incidents - but this is the first time i see something like this in Air RB.
Have a good one!
this ^^^^
happens a lot, died a couple times to it, with an expert crew
it’s frustrating, but you deal with the cards you are dealt with :(
The state of your pilot also affects spotting. If you’re tired/hurt, targets get unspotted very quickly.
I guess you can’t see it in a replay. You need a record.
I have some records of invisible missiles, in the replay they were still there.
With unspotted enemies it should be the same.
Most of the time you are right, you look around but you miss exact the angle where enemy is.
But sometimes it’s weird.
I saw it several times an enemy is spotted in front of me out of my own spotting range flying straight at me. When my mate deviates the marker and the dot disappears although I’m in range to see the dot. But dot appears again together with the marker.
In essence: don’t bother with keen vision and the other useless skill. Because I didn’t invest and experience the same thing. Gaijin spaghetti code means we have to look around with C key like a paranoid coked up lawyer - heightened anxiety whilst flying for no reason
My last sim EC match had some weird shenanigans. Port Moresby, 3.0-4.0 (Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On), I can’t recall exactly when it happened but it was near the end of the match before the final A point contest.
I’ve noticed our airfields were getting bombed so I climbed and searched for the bomber. I found the bomber. I gave chase. I saw the black dot grow and take shape and see the wings bank and begin to dive.
I followed, keeping an eye on it constantly and then after it went low enough, it just… disappeared. Couldn’t find it afterwards, gave up and went to the A point. The other P-51 nearby couldnt find it either.
I’ve noticed black dots disappearing before when the wings are at a specific angle and stuff.
Stuff like this - together with this
are some of the reasons why i fly exclusively props in Air RB.
If such incidents as described above will pop up more often and finally affect prop BRs in Air RB to a significant degree - it looks like that i have to look for another game.
Just ask yourself what is more likely: Gaijin messed up the spotting / marker system or some guys found “workarounds” to avoid dots and/or markers…
I have given up trying to understand the spotting system in AirRB. Its very inconsistent IMHO.
It is single clip from 2-3 years ago but, pretty sure this bug is still not fixed.
Honestly Gaijin, wtf?
I tried doing some research on spotting because I have terrible luck and only get lobbies at evening and the like.
I’ve found posts saying you should absolutely avoid using anti-aliasing other than SSA 4x+ because it can really screw with the rendering of black dots and even more detailed planes at a distance.
I’m yet to test it thoroughly (turn my FXAA off, set post-FX to “Contrast” correction, Reinhard at 0.253) but it does seem to make dots seem a fair bit bigger and lumpier in my current lobby.
Thanks for your support.
Imho the issue lies within the usage of a console as the actual performance of PCs are way superior. Even as switching from xbox one to Series X was a quantum leap, i can compare graphic settings of my son (playing wt on PC) with mine. And, ofc, i tested the very limited options of adjustments of a console vs PC.
I boils down that there is not a performance gap, we talk about a performance canyon. But as long i still enjoy wt i am happy to accept certain conceptual (like 60 fps max) disadvantages of a console.
Found some bugreports for what it’s worth:
